A Deluxe Stratocaster for the 21st Century!
The new American Deluxe Stratocaster® is a stunning example of contemporary FENDER® craftsmanship! It features three brand new Samarium Cobalt Noiseless™ single coil pickups and the versatile S-1 switching system for an endless array of both vintage and modern tones. The select alder body is finished with a gorgeous three-color sunburst. Other features include a deluxe two-point synchronized tremolo with pop-in arm, a modern "C"-shape maple neck with a maple fingerboard, abalone inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets.

Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster at a Glance:
  • Select alder with three-color sunburst and polyurethane finish.
  • Three-ply mint green pickguard with aged plastic parts.
  • Three Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Strat® pickups with S1-switching.
  • One-piece maple neck with modern "C" shape and maple fingerboard.

Looks As Good As It Sounds
Though the original Stratocaster was first introduced more than a half century ago, it's more popular now than ever, and the American Deluxe Series instruments are the end result of 50 years of evolution. This new guitar takes the Stratocaster right into the 21st Century with that sleek, supple Strat design over a select alder body with a three-color sunburst and a jewel-like polyurethane finish.

Each American Deluxe Strat features a special matching pickguard. In this case, the sunburst finish is beautifully complemented with a three-ply mint green pickguard along with special aged plastic parts.

The Trademark Strat Sound... and More
The original Strat had three single coil pickups, but the American Deluxe substitutes three specially-designed Samarium Cobalt Noiseless single coil pickups, so you also get instant access to all those classic, glossy Strat tones with a simple flick of the five-position blade switch.

But there's more here than meets the eye! By simply pushing down on the volume control, you can access the bold new sounds available thanks to Fender's exclusive S-1 switching. This gives you incredible new pickup combinations like the neck pickup in parallel with special capacitor and in series with the middle pickup. If you want a gorgeous Strat with both vintage and modern guitar timbres and features, you owe it to yourself to strap on an American Deluxe Strat!

S-1 Switching
  • Position 1. Bridge pickup in series with middle pickup.
  • Position 2. Bridge pickup in parallel with special capacitor and in series with middle pickup.
  • Position 3. Middle pickup in series with special capacitor (no tone control).
  • Position 4. Neck pickup in parallel with special capacitor and in series with middle pickup.
  • Position 5. Neck pickup in series with middle pickup.

Fast Playing Natural Maple Neck
Leo Fender wasn't afraid to "think outside the box" when it came to guitar designs. In the 1950s and well into the 1970s, the blond natural maple neck became almost synonymous with Fender guitars. While this American Deluxe Strat keeps the fast playing maple neck, it's now topped off with a ,s[;r fingerboard with a 9.5-inch radius. And in keeping with contemporary player preferences, the modern "C" shaped neck is finished in satin polyurethane.

Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Features:
  • Color: Three-color sunburst.
  • Body Type: Solidbody electric.
  • Finish: Polyurethane.
  • Neck Wood: Maple.
  • Neck Shape: Modern "C" shape with 9.5-inch radius.

  • Controls: Master volume and two tone (one no-load).
  • Bridge/Tailpiece: Two-point synchronized tremolo with pop-in arm.
  • Pickup Switching: Five-position blade switch plus S-1 switchin.

  • Scale Length: 25.5 inches.

Fender Guitars
You could easily make the case that Fender electric guitars were responsible - at least in great part - for the birth of modern rock 'n' roll. Originally designed to be easier to build, and thus more affordable, Leo Fender's masterpieces, which include classics like the Stratocaster (is there a more distinctive guitar shape in the world?), the Telecaster® and the original Precision Bass®, were at the core of a musical revolution that spawned everything from surf to country to punk!

In the 1960s, when Fender guitars first hit bandstands and stages all around the country, it was astonishing to see that trademark Fender maple neck and fingerboard. Though the company eventually offered rosewood fingerboards as standard or optional on its entire line of instruments, those first"blond" necks really shook things up. Others have picked up on the maple neck theme, but it's clearly yet another of Leo Fender's "firsts."

Today, no other manufacturer can match Fender for the sheer number of options available throughout its entire line. While vintage Fenders can command astronomic prices, the company now has the widest range of quality instruments in the world, along with the highest profile players like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, all of whom are legendary.

Sweetwater Expert Advice

"What can be said of a Fender Strat that hasn' t been said many times over already? I will say this - the day I bought my American Deluxe Strat - I didn't sleep for 36 hours straight, because I could not put it down. I took it home, played it, went to work, came home and played it again, went to work, came home and played it yet again. It felt and sounded THAT good. Still does. The locking tuners provide amazing stability, even when dive bombing on the whammy bar. Truly an amazing piece of American history - and a beautiful instrument."
