I played demos of this guitar at various music stores before deciding to purchase it at Sweetwater. Let me say, I was not out looking for the best purchase price, but was more or less looking for a ne... read more [+]w guitar. I tried other guitar brands as well, only to end up with this Strat in my hands before I would leave the store. Long story short, I bought this guitar and have since played it at least 2-3 hours a day. I love the feel of the Modern C neck and pick up selections with the S-1 switching. The color (Tobacco Sunburst) is absolutely beautiful and ia a perfect compliment to the rosewood fretboard. When I received my guitar the "set-up" was exactly the way I wanted it to be (good job Fender and the 55 point tech at Sweetwater). No negatives with this guitar except I'm not a fan of the "duck sound" you get with the pick-up selector in 5th position with the S-1 switch engaged. However, add a dunlop wah and you can get that "Theme from Shaft" guitar intro nailed. All in all, great guitar, great value, and great people at Sweetwater close [-]

Some Strat "purists" might no... read more [+]t like the S-1 system, but I find that it acts like a second gun in the tone holster, and creates an extra punch. The ASH body not only looks gorgeous, but the tone is unmatched in the Strat world. This guitar covers so much tonal ground; tones from Clapton to Buddy, Robbie Robertson to Rich Robinson, this guitar nails it with its eyes closed. I play everything from Black Crowes' style dirty blues rock to basic blues and even hard rock. This guitar really knows NO limits, unless you're looking for something specific like the mahogany howl heard from most Gibsons, or a high gain sound.
