Very surprising

I actually purchased this amp so I could utilize it's headphone jack in another room while my wife was sleeping to practice my guitar scales. I had no intention of utilizing the amp as most would. I own a Toneport UX2 from line 6 and love it. I love this just as much. I believe the tonality of the amp models differ slightly from gearboxes to my ears but I appreciate them just as much. They are slightly brighter through headphones. However through the speaker which I seem to find time to explore almost has that loose "BOSE" boosted 200-250 hz speaker box sound. I often find myself turning the bass down. The effects are nice to have but aren't up to the quality and versatility of those offered in gearbox. This amp produces much more volume than you could ever expect to pull from 15 watts. I really like Line 6 products. They are so versatile and they allow you to get into some entry level products with some extreme features. Major Bang for your buck even if you do use the speaker!

One Nasty Spider

OK, I had read mostly good reviews about this amp, and since it compared favorably to lower-end Marshalls and Voxs price-wise and feature-wise, I decided to give it a shot (love that Sweetwater free shippin'). It is one loud mother. I replace a 15w amp w/ the Spider III 15, and the difference is amazing. It has taken a little while to figure out the best mix/match with the tones/mods, but it has been a lot of fun trying them all out. The four channels are nice presets, (clean and insane are my personal fav's), but the fxs are really nice to have. Now, I have only been playing for a couple of years and I don't pretend that this is my amp for life. I know you can't dial in any tone since you are limited to the four preset channels, but I have been able to find just about any sound I have wanted so far, and by the time I am ready for my "signature tone", I will be in the market for a higher-end amp. Until then, the Spider III ROCKS!!! I would recommend it to any player beginner to intermediate.
