Spat is based on over a decade of research by IRCAM (Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics and Music) in Paris, France, to bring you vivid and lifelike reverb and spatialization effects. Spat gives you the power to control both spatialisation (source localisation) and room acoustics simulation. Said another way, you can define where your source signal arrives from in a 3D space, then gives you control over the reverb characteristics for that space. Advanced Spatial Technology:
Flux's Spat gives you intuitive control over a powerful set of parameters to create an incredibly realistic soundfield. Up to eight input channels are routed to one of many "sources" that you can place in your virtual space. You then have control over several acoustic and perceptual parameters, including the spatialisation of the source (its place in the 3D sound field). Sources are then routed to the reverb module, which gives you precise control over the finest details of your virtual space. Basically, Spat not only allows gives you a hyper-realistic reverb effect, it allows you to control the exact point in a 3D space that your source sounds emanate from, and gives you control over how the source signal is perceived in relation to the reverberation it creates.

If your creativity in post-production or sound design is hampered by the simple room size, reverb time, and density controls that most reverbs feature, you're in for a pleasant surprise with Spat. Place your source sounds anywhere within a virtual 3D space, then determine the distance, azimuth, yaw, elevation, pitch, and aperture of where the source is being perceived from.
