The four parts to Solera II are a compressor section, a decompressor section, an expander section, and a de-expander section. The compressor and expander sections of Solera II are fairly straight-forward, providing you with all of the common controls for both processes, as well as additional fine-tuning controls. The decompressor and de-expander sections are unique. They act precisely opposite to their counterparts. In other words, the decompressor increases the volume of anything above the threshold, whereas the de-expander increases the volume of any sound below its threshold.

When you put all of these processes together, you can selectively boost, cut, level, or smooth out any limited dynamic range you choose. The effect is staggering! On top of that, Solera II offers incredibly detailed MS width control for enhanced stereo imaging, as well as full 7.1 surround sound processing capability. There's also a Parameter Morphing Slider that you can automate, which lets you blend two complete parameter setups together - excellent for experimenting with dynamics!
