Bring a cool archtop flare and big tone to your bass rig with the Lakland Skyline Hollowbody 30 short-scale bass guitar. With carved mahogany back and sides and a carved maple top, this bass gives you huge tones unlike any other hollowbody on the market. The Skyline Hollowbody 30 is armed with a pair of single-coils that deliver broad frequency response, giving you warm rotundity on the bottom, stunning midrange clarity, and creamy-smooth highs. With deep bass notes reminiscent of an upright to aggressive, throaty sounds of a solidbody bass, the Lakland Skyline Hollowbody 30 is ready for any gig.

Great looks and performance for any gig

A mahogany body with carved maple top gives you classic hollowbody f-hole looks and big, beefy tone. The Skyline Hollowbody 30 will exceed your expectations for comfort and playability - bassists at Sweetwater love the feel of the short-scale maple neck. Sonically, the Vintage Style single-coil pickups boast a warm, rounded bottom with detailed mids and a nice high end - perfect for providing solid low-frequency support that still punches through the mix.

Lakland's stateside attention to detail

The Lakland Skyline Hollowbody 30 receives the company's thorough stateside evaluation and tweakage. Renowned for the impeccable boutique quality of their Chicago-made basses, how can Lakland's overseas-made Skyline Series instruments meet the company's fanatically strict quality guidelines? Simple. Every bass - regardless of its country of origin - goes across the company's Chicago workbenches and through the hands of its US luthiers before being delivered to a dealer. Lakland makes sure they're completely happy with every bass before giving it a pass. You'll find that the playability, tone and overall quality of Lakland's Skyline basses will meet - and exceed - your expectations.

With Lakland, you're in good company

Lakland Basses have earned the respect of discerning players and professional bassists worldwide. Blending vintage comfort with contemporary features, Lakland basses are known for their impressive playability. Since the introduction of the company's flagship models in the mid 1990s, Lakland basses are famous for exceptional tone, playability and build quality. Lakland's artist list reads like a bass who's who: Chris Squire, Bob Glaub, Chris Hillman, Pino Palladino, Bob Babbitt, the late, great Donald "Duck" Dunn - and many, many more. When you take the stage with a Lakland bass, you're in good company.

Lakland Skyline Hollowbody 30 Short-scale Electric Bass Features:
  • Electric hollowbody bass with beefy low-end output
  • Carved mahogany back and maple top with cool F-hole design

best ss there is

If proper balance, powerful tone, easy set-up maintenance, light weight, you need a ss now (age issues), and perfect ergonomics matter to you get one. There is no better ss bass IMO, in fact get two so you can have one w/ rounds and one w/ flats.

I'm in Love!

Such a phenomenal sounding bass. Coming from a Fender player series J-bass, this lightweight, Lakland hollowbody makes the Fender sound like a toy. Installing some Labella tapewounds, front pickup only and with the tone rolled down gives a sweet upright sound.

This bass is beautifully made and came out of the box with a perfect setup. No adjustment required. (Thanks to Lakland, Sweetwater or both)

The only con to this bass is the tone control is not set as flush against the body as the pickup controls are. (There's a visible gap where you can partially see the pot shaft.)

But that's just quibbling....All in all, I'm a Lakland fan for life.

Short Scale Vintage Vibe

I've owned this bass for a couple of years now and it's one of my favorite basses. I usually have a few basses on hand in the studio, to give me tonal options to fit the track. This little beauty is perfect when you are looking for that shot scale, vintage sound. String it up with some flatwound strings and you get that short scale, hollowbody plunk made famous on so many recordings. It's not as muddy sounding as most of the basses in this class, but it's got definition and character. Not as punchy as something like a Fender Mustang, but more clarity than a Hofner. The neck is thin at the nut, perfect people who prefer a Jazz neck over a Precision neck. Intonation is impeccable.

This is my first short scale and I love it ! This bass feels so tight . Love he neck . I like the bound fret board. It plays easy . It just fits me . Fit and finish is very nice . Glad I gave it a chance . And Sweetwater is the best !
Music background: I’ve been playing bass and singing in our church band for three years !
