A great foundation

If you're on the fence about these plugins, there's no need to be. If you already have a bunch of different EQ, compression and utility plugins, you might not find much here of interest. But if you are only starting to acquire a collection, this really is an awesome investment in quality plugins.

I found this bundle to be a fantastic addition to my studio, with great sounding modifiers and a really easy-to-use layout. I love the Renaissance EQ and Compressor. They are both super easy to use and sound fab. Supertap is a cool delay, S1 is fantastic for controlling stereo width, and MaxxBass is absolutely kick-ass to make sure your bass fills up more of those iPhone earbuds :) L1 is the original super-limiter, and it has a sound that is very aggressive (if you're into that kind of thing). If you want a less in-your-face limiter, you might want to look at Waves L3-16, which I still lust after as it is totally delicious (one day, my pretty!).

This is a great all-around toolkit which allows you to build up a solid collection of plugins that people in 'the biz' are still using today. I saw an interview somewhere with the guy who mixed Kanye West's "Stronger" and he still uses and loves Renaissance Compressor on vocals. So this is good gear, rest assured.

I have no regrets on my purchase, especially via Sweetwater, as it's much cheaper than direct from Waves and you get the famous Sweetwater service!

I've found better elsewhere

This isn't a BAD product for the INITIAL price. However, there are three things to consider:

1) The plug-ins included are mostly very old, and seems to have only been updated to simply be compatible with newer operating systems. However, many of them were developed as long as a decade ago, or longer. For example, the Q10 EQ was first developed in 1992! I don't believe it has been given a face-lift in a very LONG time. If you search around on message boards, you will find some very incredible, more aesthetically pleasing, easier to manage/control, and much more modern Plug-ins from other brands.

2) Be sure to understand Waves WUP, their Upgrade Program. The initial price of this bundle may be ok, but in the long run, you will certainly pay a high price, imo. Don't expect free updates to new Windows OS's without WUP, although you might get lucky and upgrade to a new Microsoft platform suring the first year of Waves ownership. After that, you pay!

3) If you use a DAW like I do, such as Wavelab 6, the Waves plug-ins may crash your DAW (and rudely I might add) if you attempt to save settings inside the DAW. Instead, you need to save Waves settings separately, remove the plug-in and then save all your other Plug-In settings in the DAW as normal. I do not know if there is a fix for this, but like in #2, you will probably have to upgrade your plug-ins at the cost of WUP (I estimate). A workaround is to locate the settings database in the DAW directory and clear out all Waves settings before opening the Plug-Ins settings in the DAW. When working well, the Waves plug-ins take longer than they should to open inside the DAW (longer than any other plug-in I use).
