Saffire PRO 24 16-in/8-out FireWire Audio Interface at a Glance:
Two of Focusrite's history-rich, award-winning preamplifiers
Without a doubt, Focusrite has a reputation for creating some of the industry's best-ever preamplifiers. And with the Focusrite Saffire PRO 24, you get to tap into that legacy, at an unbelievably affordable per-preamp value. The Saffire PRO 24 has not one, but two Focusrite preamps, giving you that signature Focusrite transparency and clarity, and a solid cornerstone for your sound.
Get creative with the DSP mixer — while your CPU power stays intact
The Saffire PRO 24 lets you get as creative as you want with your headphone mixes - and your audio routing in general - and you can do it all without so much as touching your computer's processing power. That's because there's a built-in DSP mixer on the Saffire PRO 24. Go ahead and flexibly route the 16 inputs and eight outputs however you see fit. Also cool, there's a handy loop-back function that lets you route audio between software applications. For example, you can record a sample from your iTunes library right into your session... or mash up random audio samples from YouTube... the possibilities are endless with the Saffire PRO 24.
Included VST/AU plug-ins give your projects a touch of class
The Saffire PRO 24 includes a suite of awesome-sounding plug-ins to use in your sessions. All in all, you get compression, reverb, gating, and EQ plug-ins, giving you the right tools for dialing in a great mix — all right inside the box. The plug-ins work inside VST- and AU-compatible DAWs, so you've got a ton of audio recording/editing programs to choose from.
Comes with a bunch of loops, samples, and software to get you started
With the Saffire PRO 24, you're loaded up with sounds from the get-go. The interface comes with the "Xcite+" pack, a DVD-ROM filled to the brim with royalty-free loops and samples, plus powerful software applications to get you up and running. With the Saffire PRO 24, you get a copy of Ableton Live Lite 7 (which gets you a special low-priced upgrade to the full version, if you love it), plus Novation's classic bass synth "Bass Station," a collection of 572 live drum loops, and 1GB of royalty-free samples from LoopMasters. Long story short, with the Saffire PRO 24, you've got enough audio options in the box to satisfy the appetite of even the most demanding artist. The Xcite+ Pack, so you know, is compatible with Macs and PCs.
All Focusrite FireWire interfaces are fully compatible with Thunderbolt using a simple FireWire to Thunderbolt adapter. Focusrite fully supports the use of Thunderbolt with its FireWire interfaces.

Doesn't Get Any Easier ...
by Barry Miller from Gainesville, FloridaAs I start to move away from using Avid hardware with Pro Tools (version 9.06), I decided to grab one of the less expensive Focusrite interfaces to play with before spending more money on a higher end... read more [+] product. I've been using Pro Tools for several years and in the past I've had to build PCs with specific chip sets to be able to use the more ancient versions of PT. Given what a pain it was to get things working perfectly, I was totally blown away by how easy it was to install this new hardware and get it working. Literally, I installed the drivers, rebooted the PC and connected the new box and it worked without any further tweaking. And so far, the audio quality seems to be vastly superior to the old DIGI hardware. I would still like to upgrade to a 192 kHz capable device, but for $300, this is unbelievable! close [-]

This unit saved my butt
by Ehrin from Virginia BeachI got this unit exclusively to use as an interface to use live with my e-drums to run VSTs. I honestly picked it because it had 6 outputs and was pretty cheap. (Typically mono kick, snare, hats, stereo OH/Toms, and a mono click track for my in-ears) I had used the preamps a couple of times for some demo recordings but never really cared to really listen to them until a fatefull day... I was tracking vocals in a studio with a client who was paying way more than I am worth when Pro Tools/HD had one of it's many fatal errors. Lucky for me I had my laptop, this interface, and the record drive. I yanked evertyhing out of the HD interface and patched it through this. I pulled up the session on my non-HD version of PT and continued to work. When we went to mix evertyhing down, the tracks recorded through this were every bit as clean as the ones done with the HD interface. The client was happy, the producer was happy, and everything was right with the world. The studio owner was so happy, he bought two of the Saffire PRO 40s to use in our mobile recording rig. close [-]
