Nick ChurchFor a very long time JBL have been innovators in the portable small/medium touring system PA market, whether it has been for new passive driver technologies or for their active system approach partnering with Crown amplifiers. The new 'STX' series of high power passive PA speakers continues this tradition of excellence. Unlike some other subwoofer enclosures that only produce an un-defined 'woof' of low frequency energy, these new STX828 dual 18" subs produce an articulate bass sound where you CAN hear individual notes, if they are present in the source material. They are capable of accepting large amounts of signal, and delivering seriously high SPL's, and sounding effortless when doing so. As one of my very happy customers put it: "I could not have been more pleased with the results. A ground stack of 1- STX 825 and 1-STX 828s powered by Crown XTI 4002/6002's per side easily serviced 300+ people with pristine clarity and warmth. Our national acts as well as regional ones were also very pleased with the reproduction and presentation the STX's provided of their sound. Over the course of 9 days 27 shows 18 setups/breakdowns the JBL STX's performed beyond even my high expectations. When your name/job is on the line it is nice to hear 'Wow, this sounds really amazing. Good job!' from major Nashville industry executives - That actually happened a few times. Bottom line, The JBL STX series delivers on all levels. - and even a bit more in my opinion.
