Customer Reviewsfrom July 23, 2011 Music Background: musician, sometimes paid mostly unpaid Best sounding acoustic I've playedAwesome craftsmanship in all phases - structure, finish, and most important...tone and sustain. The tone across all six strings is striking. The finish is striking. It sounds impeccable playing hard, soft, rhythm, lead.... it is the best. I tried Martin, Taylor, Larivee...in this price range, none of them came close to the Gibson.from Seattle June 18, 2011 Music Background: Active Musician Gibson Acoustic Songwriter Deluxe Studio(sunburst)I've got the sunburst version of this model, which I think is hard to come by; I bought mine used. That being said, this guitar is a 'looker' in sight and sound! I've had many positive comments( and some along the lines "If you don't watch out I'm going to steal it from you!"(said in jest, of course) on it's looks and sound---the Baggs Element system really makes this sing through a PA.With Gibsons, though, I would "play before you decide", as sometimes the sound differs from guitar to guitar. Built solid to last a lifetime. from Albany, GA USA December 8, 2010 Music Background: Worship leader Worth EVERY PennyI ordered this guitar after discussing it with my sales engineer. I told him what I had in mind when it came to what I wanted my next acoustic to sound like. We went over several options, and we kept coming back to this one. When I got this guitar, I knew I needed to let it rest for 24 hours or so, but I couldn't resist playing it for a few minutes. After I tuned it up, I was pleased to hear the exact sound that I was hearing in my head. This guitar sounds like the acoustic version of my Les Paul. The mid-range is tight, clear, & punchy. There's enough of the higher frequencies in there to be nice without sounding too thin. The low range on this really nice. I wanted a guitar that had a bold low-end without getting too "boomy." This guitar has it. You can tell it's built solid, and all of the details are beautifully crafted. Plugged in, this guitar sounds great too. I think I'd like it better plugged in, but I think that's the case with any acoustic I've played. If I had to pick a downside to this guitar, I'd pick the fact that it doesn't come with two strap buttons. I have a good strap that ties at the neck just past the nut, and it works fine. I may get a second button added later, but it's just too new to mess with right now. Lastly, buying this guitar from Sweetwater was definitely the way to go. My sales engineer was able to go pick up the one we had in mind and he was able to play it and make sure everything was what I wanted. He was even able to pick which one of two guitars sounded the best and looked the best. Sweetwater even did a great job of setting the guitar up before it got to me. If you're thinking about buying any guitar, but an acoustic guitar in particular, go the personal route. Let a sales engineer at Sweetwater help you. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. And You definitely won't be disappointed with this guitar. from Canada March 19, 2010 Music Background: Singer/Songwriter Sweet Sweet SoundI picked up a used one from the rental departmental at my local music store. After trying what else I could get that sounded and looked similar, the closest guitars where twice the price. If you want a guitar that sounds as good as it looks the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe is an awesome instrument with a fair price.from Ocean City, NJ August 9, 2007 Music Background: pro-musician worth every dollarI have owned and sold many guitars over the last 30 years, but this is one I will keep around. It Plays and sounds as well or better than many taylors martin's, ect.. that are in the 3,000.00 retail range. No drop off in high end, mids, or lows; very even sounding and a great projection for a non-jumbo.Beautiful rosewwod too.from San Francisco Bay Area April 8, 2007 Music Background: Music Degree, former studio player, band & solo gigs, teacher Wonderful Guitar regardless of costI've been playing for over 40 years and had almost every major brand of acoustic guitar, but have been disappointed in almost every one for some (tone, action, size, dynamic range, build quality, looks, cost, etc). Once I found the "right" one of these for me (this guitar used to be called the Songbird Deluxe), my search ended. This axe has great tone (plugged in or not), good action, is beautifully designed, built & finished and is very loud when played without an amp. I've had mine for three years now; I'll never give it up.from Lake Forest, CA August 16, 2006 Music Background: teacher, performer, songwriter Versatile and inspirationalI tried a lot of acoustics before this one fell into my hands. I like it better than models I played at triple the price. Electric players will find the low action on the comfortable neck creates an easy transition.I've found most acoustics are better suited for either plectrum or fingerstyle, but this one seems to walk the fine line between both, offering a surprisingly warm and loud tone for a guitar of it's size. You can't adjust any EQ on the pickup, which is a serious drawback, but it is voiced rather nicely. All in all, a beyond amazing guitar for the price. I look forward to hearing it "open up" in the next few years as the wood ages. It'll get even better, if that's possible.

May 4, 2006 AwesomeI've played a lot of acoustics - my HD28VS sounded better from day one but it's too delicate to be a take outside, gig and beat around kind of guitar. This is a great sounding guitar that's a pretty solid hunk of wood - not just a difficult design feat, but a promise of even better (!!!) sound to come through the years and a sure sign of a no nonsense, tough instrument. Gibson knocked it out of the park on this one.

from San Francisco, CA January 1, 2004 Really niceThis is a really nice guitar -- big, loud & full sound with solid lows and bright highs, nice action & very well made. Sounds excellent when plugged-in, too. I've had mine about a year and it's now starting to sound better all the time.
