Modern Classics, improved
Delivering quality craftsmanship and classic style, Gibson guitars will always be of the best in the world. Yet, the same technological developments that constantly change and revolutionize the audio industry are also impacting the needs and wishes of modern musicians: Gibson knows this. With the release of the Modern Classic line, Gibson gives a nod to the modern guitarist - the guitarist who needs onboard electronics, cutaways to reach the uppermost frets, modified neck profiles, and setups that allow playability - no matter the style of playing. With these features in mind, Gibson redesigned the entire Modern Classic line to give us premium, handcrafted guitars that play easier, intonate better, sound great plugged in, and stay in tune even better than before. These guitars feature the latest design advancements, including radiused, or rolled fingerboard edges, giving you a fast, comfortable feel. And, with string height lower at the nut, these guitars will also play even easier and intonate better all the way up the neck. Final Gibson touches, including new soundhole labels, sturdy Grover tuners, and premium Fishman pickups, make it easy for you to take your favorite traditional-style Gibson acoustic onto the modern stage with confidence!

Quality construction
All Modern Classic guitars are handcrafted by Gibson in Bozeman, MT, from premium tonewoods and components. The Songwriter Deluxe Studio is no exception, producing fine tone with its solid Sitka spruce top, and solid rosewood back and sides. With a round mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, and custom line bridge, the Songwriter Deluxe Studio is as stylish as it is playable. Gibson added gold Grover tuners and premium Fishman pickups to ensure that the Songwriter Deluxe Studio will stay in tune and sound great - whether you're playing plugged-in onstage or strumming in your living room.

Square shoulder cutaway style
The Songwriter Deluxe Studio is both beautiful and playable. It features a broad square shoulder style designed to sing and resonate premium tone. A body style popularized by Gibson's original Hummingbird, the Songwriter Deluxe Studio carries on that tradition. This guitar looks great in front of a crowd!

Gibson: Don't Mess with a Good Thing
Gibson guitars have been around for well over a century. When guitarists are looking for an outstanding combination of superb tone and playability along with great looks and gorgeous finishes, the choice for most of those 100 plus years has been Gibson. From their amazing collection of fine acoustics to the electric guitars that literally rewrote music history, Gibson guitars have been on almost every chart-topping album from artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Cream and Led Zeppelin. These "first call" instruments also cross an enormous array of diverse styles, from folk and country to blues and hard rock. With that resume, it's not surprising that so many of Gibson's best-selling instruments have changed little over the decades. Because there's just no sense in messing with a good thing!

Gibson Acoustic Songwriter Deluxe Studio(sunburst)

I've got the sunburst version of this model, which I think is hard to come by; I bought mine used. That being said, this guitar is a 'looker' in sight and sound! I've had many positive comments( and... read more [+] some along the lines "If you don't watch out I'm going to steal it from you!"(said in jest, of course) on it's looks and sound---the Baggs Element system really makes this sing through a PA.
With Gibsons, though, I would "play before you decide", as sometimes the sound differs from guitar to guitar. Built solid to last a lifetime. close [-]

Worth EVERY Penny

I ordered this guitar after discussing it with my sales engineer. I told him what I had in mind when it came to what I wanted my next acoustic to sound like. We went over several options, and we kep... read more [+]t coming back to this one.

When I got this guitar, I knew I needed to let it rest for 24 hours or so, but I couldn't resist playing it for a few minutes. After I tuned it up, I was pleased to hear the exact sound that I was hearing in my head.

This guitar sounds like the acoustic version of my Les Paul. The mid-range is tight, clear, & punchy. There's enough of the higher frequencies in there to be nice without sounding too thin. The low range on this really nice. I wanted a guitar that had a bold low-end without getting too "boomy." This guitar has it.

You can tell it's built solid, and all of the details are beautifully crafted. Plugged in, this guitar sounds great too. I think I'd like it better plugged in, but I think that's the case with any acoustic I've played.

If I had to pick a downside to this guitar, I'd pick the fact that it doesn't come with two strap buttons. I have a good strap that ties at the neck just past the nut, and it works fine. I may get a second button added later, but it's just too new to mess with right now.

Lastly, buying this guitar from Sweetwater was definitely the way to go. My sales engineer was able to go pick up the one we had in mind and he was able to play it and make sure everything was what I wanted. He was even able to pick which one of two guitars sounded the best and looked the best. Sweetwater even did a great job of setting the guitar up before it got to me. If you're thinking about buying any guitar, but an acoustic guitar in particular, go the personal route. Let a sales engineer at Sweetwater help you. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. And You definitely won't be disappointed with this guitar. close [-]

I can talk to my Sales Engineer about any piece of equipment, and he always steers me in the right direction. He truly knows what he's talking about, and he never tries to over-sell me on anything. If he worked in the Nashville area, I'd probably owe him about 20 dinners by now!
