The Hummingbird Is a Premier American Guitar!
The Hummingbird Modern Classic is in a class by itself, in both looks and sound! The Gibson Hummingbird brought a subtle new body style and a bold new look to Gibson's dreadnought family in 1960. With the broad tone of its square-shouldered body and the bold visual statement of its cherry sunburst finish, the Hummingbird has been one of Gibson's most recognizable guitars for over 40 years. With a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, the Hummingbird projects an incredibly full, balanced tone. The mahogany neck is joined to the body at the 14th fret (the optimum location for sustain) and features a bound rosewood fingerboard with double-parallelogram inlays. The headstock also features a distinctive mother-of-pearl inlay. The specially decorated Hummingbird tortoise pickguard makes the Hummingbird Modern Classic stand out in a crowd.

Modern Classics, improved
Delivering quality craftsmanship and classic style, Gibson guitars will always be of the best in the world. Yet, the same technological developments that constantly change and revolutionize the audio industry are also impacting the needs and wishes of modern musicians: Gibson knows this. With the release of the Modern Classic line, Gibson gives a nod to the modern guitarist - the guitarist who needs onboard electronics, cutaways to reach the uppermost frets, modified neck profiles, and setups that allow playability - no matter the style of playing. With these features in mind, Gibson redesigned the entire Modern Classics line to give us premium, handcrafted guitars that play easier, intonate better, sound great plugged in, and stay in tune even better than before. These guitars feature the latest design advancements, including radiused, or rolled fingerboard edges, that give you a fast, comfortable feel. And, with string height lower at the nut, these guitars will also play even easier and intonate better all the way up the neck. Final Gibson touches, including new soundhole labels, sturdy Grover tuners, and premium Fishman pickups, make it easy for you to take your favorite Gibson acoustic onto the modern stage with confidence!

Quality construction
All Modern Classic guitars are handcrafted by Gibson in Bozeman, MT, from premium tonewoods and components. The Hummingbird Modern Classic features a premium-quality solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back, sides, and neck. The rosewood fingerboard features double-parallelogram inlays as well as a traditional mother-of-pearl crown inlay on the headstock.

Dreadnought style
The Gibson Hummingbird brought a subtle new body style and a bold new look to Gibson's dreadnought family. The Hummingbird was Gibson's first 16" wide "dreadnought"-style guitar with the extra wide upper bout, known as the "square shouldered" body shape. To emphasize the importance of the new model, Gibson outfitted the original Hummingbird with such eye-catching features as a cherry sunburst finish - the first on a Gibson flat-top - double parallelogram fingerboard inlays, multi-layered binding, and a modernized pickguard engraved with hummingbird and blossoms. As discriminating guitarists immediately discovered, underneath the Hummingbird's flashy ornamentation is a solid, high quality guitar.

Gibson: Don't Mess with a Good Thing
Gibson guitars have been around for well over a century. When guitarists are looking for an outstanding combination of superb tone and playability along with great looks and gorgeous finishes, the choice for most of those 100 plus years has been Gibson. From their amazing collection of fine acoustics to the electric guitars that literally rewrote music history, Gibson guitars have been on almost every chart-topping album from artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Cream and Led Zeppelin. These "first call" instruments also cross an enormous array of diverse styles, from folk and country to blues and hard rock. With that resume, it's not surprising that so many of Gibson's best-selling instruments have changed little over the decades. Because there's just no sense in messing with a good thing!

“Best guitar I have ever played. I have martin , laravee, etc and nothing comes close to the sound and beauty of the Hummingbird. And with the pickup its a must for any type of music. Ive playted with some of the best players in the biz from bluegrass, gospel to country and they all say nothing but a Gibson”
