Customer Reviewsfrom CA USA September 11, 2008 Music Background: Hobbyist for 7 years, Studying to be Recording Engineer, Student worth every pennyGibson seems to be the underrated when it comes to acoustic guitars since gibson is probably best known for the electric les pauls. Nevertheless, this guitar is just outright amazing. it carries such a smooth tone and a big sound. I have a taylor 814 grand auditorium and i dare to say that this songwriter deluxe is just as good for a thousand bucks cheaper. i know it is still a lot of money but believe me, you will not regret the money spent nor will you be disappointed with the sound and feel of the guitar. plus it's absolutely gorgeous. a lot of acoustic guitars compromise tone for aesthetic value while this gibson songwriter gives you superb tone and amazing looks. get this guitar before they run out. it is definitely, definitely worth it.from EUGENE OREGON January 4, 2008 Music Background: 35 YEAR HOBBYIST ACOUSTIC SONGWRITERIT DON'T GET ANY BETTER.YOU WILL HAVE LOOK REAL HARD TO TOP THIS GUITAR.I WAS OUT LOOKING TO BUY A TAYLOR AT THE TIME.A FRIEND SAID I SHOULD TRY THIS SONGWRITER DELUXE.I WAS UNABLE TO PUT IT DOWN.SO I TOOK IT HOME.I LOVE IT.from Bowie, MD December 31, 2006 Music Background: Hobbyist Dream GuitarI have dreamed of owning a Gibson guitar for over 35years, so my decision to purchase the Songwriter cutaway was not a hasty one. After much research and playing many different acoustics, I can honestly say that this guitar is a dream come true. It has the tonal qualities and traditional good looks that you would expect from a Gibson product and is a dream to play. The action was a little high for my liking right out of the box, but still a very easy player. I will take this guitar to my grave! If you are considering purchasing a high quality acoustic/electric guitar that won't break the bank; This is the one! from Long island, NY July 26, 2006 Music Background: Hobbyist Beautiful guitar!I was hesitant about buying a guitar that I never played before. I can honestly say I was blown away when this showed up on my doorstep. This guitar sounds beautiful. Easy on the eyes as well!! Finish is flawless. Great for fingerpicking and strumming alike...from the minute I picked it up, I knew I had a well built instrument that I will be able to play for years to come.from Pasadena, CA July 26, 2006 Music Background: Composer, Instrumentalist A really great buyThis is a great-sounding acoustic guitar. Bright without sounding biting or tinny. Rich without sounding boomy or muddy. Just a nice, defined mellow tone. And it records very nicely for a cutaway dreadnaught.Mine arrived perfectly set-up. Good action. Good intonation. I'd expected I'd make the obligatory trip to the luthier for tweaks, but not in this case. from Illinois October 25, 2008 Music Background: Semi Professional Studio Work Another purchase from Matt BostaterMontana USA made, craftsmanship is better than most Gibson's I own. The more its played the richer the tone. I am not crazy about the pickup system installed, (I prefer Taylor's) but it does ok. Unplugged, this guitar is loud and very clear. You can set the action to your lowest specs and still maintain great tone and playabilty. Nice case! This guitar satisfies the country/gospel niche perfectly. I bought it from SWEETWATER because of my many, many purchases from them and have never had any issues or complaints. I have sent some items back in the past and was always treated well. Sweetwater service and their GUITAR GALLERY is what keeps me coming back again and again. from Central IL June 5, 2007 Music Background: Professional NiceI received this guitar in perfect condition. Gibson really did a nice job. I am very picky and could not find one flaw. Sound is very good...deep rich tones and there is some sort of acoustic compression going on that I can not explain..but its cool. Records really really well...follow the booklet...its very sparce but it helps you get started. Strings they supply are too heavy for me 12's and end up a 54's. I left em on just to try for a while. 10's or 11's will suit me better later I am sure. BTW the neck was straight and flat with a little relief. Thanks to ROB LAU and his expert advice on this guitar, he assisted me in making a great choice as far as spec information. Its tuff to buy an axe when there arent any real shops within 100's of miles. Thanks ROB.Buy this guitar if you want something to hang on to for years. For great service, but it from SWEETWATER you wont regret it. Did I mention the EBONY fretboard !!!! ?? from KY USA May 23, 2007 Music Background: semi professional Gibson Songwriter DeluxeI own 12 guitars. Somehow I have just aquired themone by one. The guitar I use every week is my Gibson Songwriter. This is a very versitile instrument for the different styles of music I play.
