December 5, 2011 Music Background: Pro Honest Honey,,,,This is The The One!

Yes, sweety, dearest! I know i've said that before, but this one is really special....August 30, 2011 Music Background: Semi, semi, wanna be, tryin to be, wish I could be, almost pro. I've been playing bass specifically for 25 years. Playing, building and repairing guitars since ... read more [+]1978. A few years ago I had my guitars (all of them) stolen. Along with the many I built for myself (many hours gone)! Which leads me to this bass.... I ended up purchsing an SR 505. But now I needed a 4 string. I was going to save for a more expensive bass, but when I played this one I was blown away. I played a few Prestige 's and they were excellent. I really liked the SR500 (unbelievable for the $$$), but this one had the tone, the playability, and looks. Looks were last on the list and did not factor in to my decision. The tone was all..... How else can I explain it. Cleaner, brighter than my 505. The "Mid Frequency" switch is the ticket for a fast boost or cut. The playability was on par with Prestige series. The fit and finish are Indonesian.. for what that is worth. Machine made and slapped together. BUT there is nothing wrong with it.. I mean nothing. The frets are not as polished as the Prestige Series, but that is why they are prestigious and this bass is not. The overall fret work was really good, much better than i expected. After a little fret end polishing and full setup the bass plays incredible. I went as far as to take the nut slots down a thousandths of an in or so on the two and three strings, but I'm pretty anal on setups. I really liked the easilly ascessible truss rod cover. Smart. I was suprised that I liked the Elixer strings. I have tried them before on a J bass and didn't like them, but on hear (pun intended) they seem to be the perfect match. I play a bunch of styles and this bass keeps surprising me with it's abilities. With previous experience and some past visious performances I believe this bass will hold up as well as my other Ibanez's have. Have it properly setup and frets polished and you have a bass as playable as the higher end Ibanez basses. Ya! I think I have found the one.... close [-] Ibanez SR 700 (Amber)

I've been playing bass for several years now, and always on a budget. I've gravitated towards Fender basses in the past because of their solid, useful tone and strong visual appeal. But when I started... read more [+] playing more regularly with a band, I found that the reduced weight and thinner necks of Ibanez basses became much more appealing, especially given my smaller frame and hands.June 27, 2009 Music Background: Amateur Musician, Hobbyist The SR700 is the sweet spot in the Soundgear line for me. The Soundgears are very traditional looking, and extremely comfortable. The SR700, with a solid electronics package, decent pickups, and a quilted maple top is just the right mix of features, feel, and looks for the money. The construction quality has proven to be excellent, and well above my expectations for an imported guitar. Considering that and the quality of the woods in the body and neck, I'm quite impressed that Ibanez can maintain such a low price point. I've tested it thoroughly over the past several months, playing shows, rehearsals, and practicing at home, and have had no complaints. I don't touch my other basses anymore, and I am confident that my next bass purchase will be an Ibanez. I didn't think I would ever be this satisfied with an instrument so inexpensive, but Ibanez has made a convert out of me. If you're a weekend warrior with small hands like me, I don't think you can find a better feeling or better playing bass for the money. close [-] A high end sound at a budget price.
