Custom Features For A Modest PriceThis Premium Edition gives you a taste of what Ibanez Prestige models are in a lesser price. The choice of woods are great and the craftmanship is almost as good as its Japanese high-end models. It comes with Nordstrand pickups which gives a fatter J-bass tone. But since this has Maple top, it gives you a brighter sound and a punchy mid. There is an option for you to switch between an active EQ and passive mode (volume and PU panning only) which is useful when you run out of battery in the middle of your gig, your bass can still play. There's also another switch that gives you an option to boost the mid frequency. With these features, you can basically play any styles and tones you can think of. The action can be lowered to make your play less stressful. The neck is the same SR5 found in the SR500 series and higher but with Titanium reinforcement to eliminate the warping or twisting of the neck. The only downside of this wonderful bass is the slight humming sound as I pan towards one pickup. To eliminate this humming, I have to set the panning at 12 o'clock to have both pickups evenly active. I think this is inherent to any single-coil configuration, it's just that I'm not used to this since I have dealt mostly on humbucker pickups.

Excellent Bass!I was looking for a 5 string for my son and I and I was going to go with a different ibanez around the same price. Josh suggested this one and I'm glad I listened! This thing is a beast with monstrous sustain and a fast, smooth neck. I would highly recommend this Bass and Sweetwater. Josh and company take care of my musical needs!
