8-channel Pre That Smashes the Price/Performance Barrier

Studio Projects has been designing and introducing award-winning microphones, and has made it clear from the start that the company's mission is to deliver affordable quality audio products to the masses. Now Studio Projects has addressed the needs of the audio interface user with the introduction of the Studio Projects SP828. The Studio Projects 828 is an eight-channel preamp priced at well under a thousand dollars. The Studio Projects SP828 delivers eight times the pres with performance and features that you would expect to pay a whole lot more for.

What's Aboard the SP828
The new Studio Projects SP828 mic preamp incorporates the latest revision of Burr Brown IC's. The SP828 is also an 8 X 2 mixer that allows a real time mix of all 8 inputs to a stereo out buss. Housed in a 1U 19" rack, each channel on the SP828 offers: 48V phantom power, a phase reverse switch, solo switch, and mic/line switch, each with its own LED indicator, plus there are separate peak and signal present indicators. The Studio Projects SP828 defaults to a 20dB pad for recording hotter signals without clipping, along with gain, level, and pan controls.

Balanced I/O
The SP828 has individual outputs on each channel via balanced 1/4" jacks for direct feeds to any recording medium. Both line level inputs on 1/4" balanced jacks, and XLR balanced mic inputs are on the rear panel. When nothing is plugged into the line input of any channel, the mic/line switch of that channel defaults to a 20dB pad switch.  

Real Time Monitoring
The output section has a stereo L/R output control and a headphone input with control for real time monitoring. In addition, there are L/R LED meters and a Solo LED for monitoring. The master section output has L/R outputs on 1/4" balanced jacks, and inserts for the L/R buss. There is a summed mono 1/4" output jack for an external feed.  

Cascade Several SP828's
Each SP828 has an expansion in/out jack to allow for cascading several SP828's together to get up to 32 inputs where all 32 inputs buss to the L/R mix out, while offering 32 direct outputs for remote recording. The new SP828 incorporates an external power supply for clean operation.
