From Our Research Team:Premium-quality Digital Piano!Ah, the search for the best sampled grand piano goes on. Each time we think we've found it, along comes something new. And the "something new" here is Korg's SP-250 Digital Grand, with its third generation 88-note RH3 real weighted, graded hammer action keybed. Combined with the brand new, velocity-switched, multi-strike sampled grand piano, you get the feel and sound of an authentic concert grand at a fraction of the cost of the real thing. But the piano is only the star. Featured players that just might walk off with the Oscar for "Best Supporting Instrument" include a total of 12 acoustic and electric pianos plus jazz and church organs, mallet instruments, harpsichord, clavinet, choir, strings and guitar. Naturally, you get lifelike reverb and lush chorus effects at the touch of a button, a sleek, intuitive control panel with LED indicators and a built-in sound system. Oh, and did we mention the elegant black finish with steel and wood grain accents?Korg SP-250 Digital Grand Piano Features at a Glance:
A total of 30 sounds including a new, lifelike grand piano Since this is primarily a digital grand, the piano sound better be awesome, right? Well, it is, thanks to an all new, PCM sampled grand with velocity switched, multi-strike stereo samples, each of which is longer than any piano in its class (and longer means more realistic). The total number of sounds on the Korg SP-250 is 30, which includes 12 acoustic and electric pianos plus jazz and church organs, mallet instruments, harpsichord, clavinet, choir, strings and guitar. Equipped with MIDI in and out, the SP-250 can control other modules or can be used as a 16-part multi-timbral sound source. Full 88-note keyboard with weighted, hammer action keybed Real piano sound is great, but for a "total experience" you need a real piano feel. Here's where Korg's third generation 88-note RH3 real weighted, graded hammer action keybed comes into play. It's got the feel of a real grand, even when playing fast, repeated notes or trills. Three dynamic touch curves let you custom tailor the keyboard response to any player's style or preference. A special damper-style pedal allows for half-pedaling realism, a feature many other digital grands lack. Elegant black finish with steel and woodgrain highlights Okay, it sounds and feels great. But what about looks? You don't want some ugly plastic monster in your living room or conservatory. Not to worry! The Korg SP-250 looks as good as it sounds with an elegant black finish with attractive steel and woodgrain accents. No matter where you put it, it'll look terrific. Yet for all its good looks, it's surprisingly light weight, which means you can move it when you want or need to (perfect for those spur-of-the-moment redecorators). Stand and pedal included The SP-250 includes a high-quality damper pedal that is so important for proper piano performance. It provides the ultimate expressive control thanks to half-pedaling, which is a variable damping effect based on how deep you press the pedal, rather than the simple on/off switch found on cheaper instruments. The dedicated stand is both simple and stylish, and fits securely into a recessed area in the bottom of the piano providing a remarkably solid feel. The stand's lower crossbar even prevents the pedal from "creeping" forward in performance. Best of all, the SP-250 can be easily removed from the stand for moving and taking around for live performances. Built-in stereo sound system with adjustable reverb and chorus Okay, we've gotten this far, so why skimp on a cheap, cheesy sound system? The answer is simple: Korg didn't. The SP-250 comes with a specially designed stereo sound system with an optimized bass-reflex enclosure that delivers the best sound in its class. From full, rich bass response to light, airy treble and everything in between, this system delivers on the promise of excellent sound quality. Naturally, that includes a lifelike reverb so your living room can sound like a concert hall, plus lush chorus effects that add just the right amount of harmonic motion to your favorite onboard sounds. Sleek, intuitive control panel with LED indicators Designed to be hugely user-friendly, the Korg SP-250 has a sleek, intuitive control panel that features brilliant LED indicators that provide instant visual feedback to the player. Now add a music stand, onboard metronome, dual headphone outputs and even an auxiliary audio output in case you just happen to want to connect the SP-250 to your brand new home theater system (cue wild applause). The only thing Korg didn't add was instant talent, but with a digital grand this good, you'll quickly find yourself learning new techniques or even writing a few pieces of new music. Yeah, it's that good. Korg SP-250 Digital Grand Piano Features:

I have been looking hard for the last year in search of a digital piano for my studio that plays great, has keys that feel good under the fingers, and simply has an amazing piano tone. All the other b... read more [+]ells and whistles like zoning, built in synths, etc. were second on my list below the piano sounds. The SP250 is exactly what someone in my position needs. I have gone through countless music stores trying every Yamaha, Casio, Williams, and Kawai I could find, and I kept gravitating toward the Casio PX330 for the longest time. the piano sounds were really good, keys were weighted well, but the on board speakers were worthless and the keys felt VERY plastic-like. The Yamaha P95 was close with almost as good piano sounds, better feeling keys, but much less features and no 1/4" mono outs.April 27, 2012 Music Background: Experienced guitarist/drummer, recording engineer I was walking through a guitar center a few weeks ago and found this one sitting right on the floor on it's included stand and everything. I sat down, and immediately loved what I heard. The speakers are above and beyond any piano under $1,000, the keys feel great with the matte finish on the black keys, and white keys that are smooth but still feel really good. And the weight in the keys is just right. Korg got that right for sure, they aren't light at all but definitely not as heavy as say the PX330. Most of the sounds are quite good, but the pianos especially are killer, with or without headphones. If you are looking for a practice or studio piano that has great feeling keys that you can pair up with a computer and use software pianos, this is what you need. You won't get a better feeling/playing piano anywhere near this price. close [-] Fabulous

I would strongly recommend the SP-250 either for small professional gigs or as a substitute for a home's spinet/studio piano (plus other great instruments.)February 12, 2012 Music Background: professional pianist 1. Its built-in amplifier an... read more [+]d speakers provide volume adequate for cocktail lounge or party gigs in good-sized rooms (e.g., 30 feet x 30 feet), even with a few dozen people talking. 2. The keyboard action is fabulous--the keys in no way restrict me from playing with as much nuance as I can muster. 3. The sounds (piano, organ, electric piano, etc) are very good, far better than any of the Casio and Yamaha portables. No, it doesn't equal my Kawai KG7 (concert grand piano) but it sounds, as another reviewer said, as good as a fine spinet/studio piano. 4. Yes it weighs around 42 pounds, but it's compact in size enough that I'm able to carry it where it needs to go, including up a flight of stairs. Carrying its 42 pounds is far more worth it to me than carrying the Casio's 18 pounds. 5. It looks very professional. Not weird. It exudes quality. 6. I have had it for a couple years and had no problems with it. It's been perfect. close [-] Great Piano

I just took delivery of my new SP250. I couldn't be happier. I have spent alot of time on various digital pianos in entry to pro level price ranges. The feel is very natural and the pedal is sturdy. The details are exceptional. Felt pieces on the stand to avoid scratching wood floors and to stop sliding on carpet as well as a notched pedal to keep it in place. I would buy again and will recommend to anyone. Also, the on board speakers are loud and clear. close [-]
