A MUST HAVE FOR ANY PRO TOOLS USER
by MIKE BLAZE from MILWAUKEE, September 2007
Music Background: ENGINEER, PRODUCER, SOUND DESIGNER
I MUST SAY THIS DVD IS AWESOME. IT IS VERY INFORMATIVE AND REALLY BREAKS DOWN THE SCIENCE OF THE PRO TOOLS SYSTEM. BY FAR THIS IS A EXCELLENT INVESTMENT FOR ANY ONE WHO WANTS TO GET UP AND RUNNING EFFICENTLY. BELIEVE ME THIS DVD WILL NOT PUT YOU TO SLEEP LIKE MOST INSTRUCTIONAL DVDS. YOU WILL GO FROM A NOVICE USER TO A PRO IN NO TIME.

Pro Tools DVD Vol1 and The Basics of Modern Recording & Mixing
by Don Bugansky from Cleveland, Ohio USA, June 2005
I have a pretty extensive background in video productions and have been fascinated by the advancements in pro-audio recording possibilities. I decided to get my hands dirty and dive into the realm of possibilities. I basically did what most would do when starting a new interest, I read a number of "other" instructional books/manuals as well as training DVD's. It was pretty much the usual stuff...after about 15 minutes I needed a "sugar fix" to stay awake. I thought this was supposed to be fun, not some "Einstein's Theory of Relativity" kind of thing! More information than I needed and would probably never use or need to know unless I decided to possibly start my own "record label"
However, my sales associate, Art Hill offered an alternative and recommended "Secrets of the Pro's" DVD's". The folks at "Secrets of the Pro's" have figured out how to get the best information into your hands in the shortest time possible and make it all entertaining/informational at the same time. No crazy theories or deep "techno-jargon", just great how to get started and need to know information.
I can't express the value I found on both DVD's (Pro Tools Volume 1 and The Basics of Modern Recording & Mixing). Talk about "getting to the point", these guys get you up and running in about 30 minutes. I've watched it a number of times and each time I pick up another "gem" of insight/information. I would highly recommend both DVD's to anyone wanting to get up to speed quickly on the various options/configurations for basic recording as well as the myriad of options for Pro Tools.
Have Fun!
This DVD is the right one...
by Shawne Bailey from Dalton, Georgia, May 2005
I've been watching this DVD everyday for the past few months. There are books on Pro Tools and there are some okay videos (if you can still find them). This is the one that rules without question! It covers everything you need to know and so much more that you didn't know about Pro Tools.
There's none of that long-drawn speech crap going on anywhere in the DVD...it cuts straight to the chase from the minute you turn it on. The only time you see Ken is in the beginning and that's for maybe 15 minutes (when he's showing you the different Pro Tools set-ups and options that may suit your studio). Even then, he's dropping some concrete Pro Tools facts. You'll never take your eyes off this DVD.
From that point on, all you're seeing is the Pro Tools interface and hearing Ken smoothly explain the many functions of Pro Tools. There's not a part of Pro Tools that he doesn't cover and we're not talking about some 45 minutes, make you pay extra for a part 2 DVD either. This is 4 hours of pure Pro Tools experience and know how, being explained to you like you were 2-years old!!!
I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend this DVD to all Pro Tools users worldwide. Even if you think you know it all, you deserve to hear and see it explained like this.
