Sonar HS 6 is what I recommend to my friends who want to just sit down and write music. The built in quick guide is great, and the interface is laid out so well, easy to understand and easy to use rig... read more [+]ht away without having to memorize the manual! Add to that the possibilities available with using the built in VST's, ripping CD's directly into your project, burning your project straight to CD. For the price, you might think that this is entry level software only for beginners. This is simply not so! Yes, much of it is intuitive, but that is just the starting point! Go look at the features listed on the Cakewalk site and on Sweetwater! This is a lot for around $100! So try it out! Then get busy doing the music! close [-]

THIS IS THE FIRST RECORDING PROGRAM I'VE OWNED, SO I CAN'T COMPARE IT TO OTHERS, BUT I'VE LEARNED ALOT FROM THIS AND HAVE RECORDED AND BURNED A COUPLE OF SONGS TO CD, THAT CAME OUT VERY WELL. I PLAN ON STAYING WITH CAKEWALK WHENEVER I UPGRADE BECAUSE THE FORMAT IS COMFORTABLE AND SUITED TO PEOPLE WHO ARE'NT REAL TECHNICAL. IT'S EASY TO IMPORT OUTSIDE DRUM LOOPS, ETC...WITH DRAG AND DROP.
