Powerful and Versatile 8-channel Stereo Line Mixer

The Rane SM 82S mixer manages to pack in the power and range of a bigger (and more expensive) mixer into a mixer the size of a rack-space and the thickness of a deep-dish pizza. . . or 5.25" deep, at least. But for all its economy of size, the SM 82S possesses a remarkable number of features and capabilities. The SM 82S Stereo Mixer is excellent for multi-keyboard rigs, synthesizer expander modules, drum machines and more. Because of shorter internal signal paths, it's much cleaner than many mixers ten times the cost and size of the Rane SM 82S.

Incredibly Powerful and Versatile
The Rane SM 82S is incredibly powerful and versatile. The SM 82S offers the equivalent of a 16-channel mixer in one rack space! Each of the SM 82S' eight stereo (two channel) input channels feature a stereo rotary input Level control, a stereo aux Send level control slider and a left to right balance control slider. When a single mono input is used, balance control acts as a pan pot. The aux return section provides a rotary return Level control and a slide control for left to right Balance. The output stage of the SM 82S includes a rotary output Level control and a slide control for left to right balance.

Easy and Expandable
The human engineering applied to the SM 82S makes it extremely easy to operate. The segregation of function between rotary and slide controls (rotary for all input and output Levels and slide for Balance and Send) makes it simple to use, even in the dark. The SM 82S is fully expandable using the 1/4" TRS Main Expand In and Out jacks. Expansion is as simple as connecting a 1/4" TRS jumper cable from the first unit's Expand Out jack to the second unit's Expand In jack. Now, two SM 82S units create a 16 channel stereo (32 input) line level Mixer in just two rack spaces. Or, get 24 channels (48 inputs) in three rack spaces. You get it!

Instrument Mixer or Submixer
As a stereo line input mixer, Rane's SM 82S is ideally suited for keyboard setups, synthesizer expander modules, and drum machines, as well as such things as effects mixing in guitar racks. The SM 82S also functions as an excellent submixer for stereo line inputs and effects to a larger console.
