Great Snake

This does exactly what you need it to do. At 50' it's just long enough for bar gigs. The additional 1/4" jacks come in pretty handy as well.

ProCo 16 x 4 Snake

Great for small gigs. Really good for stage snake purposes as well. The TRS sends also double as TRS ins from stage mixers (keyboards or drum triggers). So far quiet and easily rolled up for storage.

A great investment!

I should've invested in one of these a long time ago. For live and in studio it works great! And ya can't beat the lifetime warranty!

Sturdy and mostly effective snake

The Stagemaster range of ProCo snakes is sturdy, lightweight, and effective for routine, mostly permanent interior signal routing. I've had two over the past couple of years. The actual wire conductor is the same style construction that the more expensive series use. But, alas, you still get what you pay for. To keep these units affordable, the individual cables are smaller gauge, not as heavily shielded, the box uses plastic surface connectors, and all connections are friction mounted (no soldering). I had one unit arrive that did not pass signal reliably on one channel (a pin-connector clamp didn't penetrate a wire's sheath). This failure may be a rarity, however, and Sweetwater gladly took care of me on that one. This kind of construction is probably common with most brands at this price point. I mention this for another reason -- the snake may not perform well in a nasty EMI environment. My studio has AC circuits of different phases, a nearby HVAC unit, and dreaded light faders in every room. These create noise that is indeed audible in an obvious fashion through the headphone returns (unbal)...and almost imperceptibly audible in the mic sends (bal). I've stuck with ProCo, though, and worked with Sweetwater to order a custom Roadmaster unit that's about double the cost. Twice as much shielding, heavier gauge cable, soldered connections, all metal surface connectors. Guess what? Terrific sound and no noise...dead silence on all channels! So evaluate your electrical environment, gauge the performance needs of your gear, and choose your snake appropriately.
