A Quality Hardshell Case Made to Fit Your Doublecut Guitar Perfectly!

The SKB SKB-61 hardshell guitar case is designed to fit all Gibson and Epiphone SG guitars, as well as ESP LTD Viper series guitars (excluding 12-string models). The exterior of the SKB-61 case features a molecular weight polyethylene shell. Rigid EPS interior foam to cradles your guitar securely and absorbs shock, while a molded-in bumper design provides maximum protection for the valance system. Trigger-release latches are made of ultra-tough fiberglass-reinforced nylon. Your guitar also receives full-length neck support from the interior design of the SKB-61 case.

Best Case I've Ever Owned

I have owned off brand cases from random guitar stores and outlets and the SKB is by far the ultimate case. It has very strong latches and comes with two keys for locking. Great construction, poor fit.

I would give this case 5 stars for construction quality, but one star for fit.

Like any SKB case, this thing is built like a tank. High quality padding, latches, and shell. These cases... read more [+] can take a lot of abuse.

However, it's too bad they designed this case to fit both the SG and the Viper. My Gibson SG fits in the case, but it's by no means a proper fit. The treble hit the side of the the case, because the SG body doesn't sit squarely in the cavity. Its a flaw caused by making the case able to fit the Viper's horns. The other issue is with the support up near the headstock. It's simply not high enough, which causes the headstock to bottom out. It might be high enough for an SG with a baseball bat neck (though I doubt it), but it's not even close for my 60's profile neck.

It really is a shame they tried to kill two birds with one stone when designing this case. If they made two cases with different interiors they would have had another homerun on their hands. But as it stands I cannot recommend this case for an SG. close [-]
