The "King of the Flat Tops" Features Top-quality Tonewoods Gibson's J-200 Custom brings together the ultimate in visual beauty and tonal quality - putting it at the top of Gibson's storied line of Super Jumbo acoustic guitars. Onboard, you'll find a AAA-grade Sitka spruce top for a strong voice, with Indian rosewood back and sides for balanced tone. Rosewood Fingerboard with Rolled Edges and Graduated Crown Inlays The Gibson J-200 Custom's fingerboard comprises high-grade rosewood, which is personally inspected and qualified by Gibson's team of skilled experts before it enters the Gibson factories. This durable wood's resilience makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and stable, and gives each chord and note exceptional clarity and bite. What's more, the J-200 Custom's graduated crown inlays are made of genuine mother-of-pearl, and are inserted into the fingerboard using a special process that eliminates gaps and doesn't require fillers. The fingerboard also sports a rolled edge-instead of the usual right angle, and is slightly beveled for an extremely smooth and comfortable feel, enhancing the J-200 Custom's playability. Fishman Aura Ellipse Pickup System Equipped with the revolutionary Fishman Aura Ellipse system, the J-200 Custom allows acoustic musicians to easily and precisely reproduce the sound of an acoustic guitar as if it miked in a professional studio. The Fishman Aura Ellipse system was programmed to conjure studio sounds with Class A microphone premplifiers and a mix of vintage and modern microphones to create Aura Acoustic images that complement the specific tone qualities of the J-200 Custom. The Gibson Super Jumbo Gibson's Super Jumbo guitars were originally built to cut through the loudest acoustic ensembles, allowing them to compete with the mandolins and banjos that were prevalent in "pre-amplified" times. It's still a thrill to hear the well-balanced sound of a Super Jumbo ring out loud and clear, the maple sides and spruce top pumping out a throaty tone that's equally great for high-octane strumming and delicate fingerpicking. Everyone from arena rockers to country artists to blues greats choose these guitars for their incredible sound, projection, build quality, and, let's face it, stunning looks. Classic Gibson Craftsmanship Gibson's reputation as a fine guitar builder dates back to the late 1800s. Handcrafted since day one by some of the most skilled luthiers around, Gibson acoustic guitars have inspired countless players around the world. When you pick up a Gibson acoustic, you know you're getting the finest tonewoods, quality hardware, and incredible attention to detail - these instruments are built to sound great and stand the test of time. After moving from Kalamazoo, MI, to Nashville, TN (where Gibson electric guitars continue to be made), Gibson finally settled their acoustic operation in Bozeman, MT, where they continue making some of the finest guitars on the planet by hand. December 20, 2009 Music Background: pro musician Is it worth the $$?

Don't get me wrong, the guitar is beautiful, aesthetically. The inlays are remarkable, the materials are the best. Bought mine from Sweetwater in April 2010 and since then, here are a couple of prob... read more [+]lems: If you are a person who perspires, forget about keeping the finish in any condition at all. After the first couple of times I played it, I noticed a dulling in the finish where my right forearm rests. This dulling is impossible to fix. The setup as delivered makes the guitar almost impossible to play due to the distance of the strings from the neck. Had to get a setup done and there are not many luthiers that will take that on. The Fishman Elipse Aura is a piece of sh&T. Uses a 9-volt batter that is almost impossible to put in unless you take the strings off and only lasts for a couple hours of play time. Save yourself some $$ if you're thinking about buying the guitar and get it without the pickup. There are several out there that are much cheaper and better sounding. I guess overall, if you're into looking at a guitar this is the one you want. If you're actually gonna play one, you might not want to buy it. close [-]
