Customer Reviewsfrom York, PA (nowhere) July 27, 2012Music Background: Player and Gearhound Vintage mojo on the milder side...I've wanted a P-90 equiped Gibson for quite a while and had to pick one of these up shortly after they came out. I've had a '61 reissue for a couple of years now and although I like that axe for its sheer b****, this guitar has seen a bit more playing time than the '61 since I got it. The P-90s aren't quite as hot as I expected, but their tone is something special; they offer up a particular grind that's all their own and the overtones you get when you push them are unique. What's more, they sound amazing clean: crisp and clear. The hum is there, but thankfully it's not as bad as I expected. As for the guitar itself, it's typical Gibson: nice fit and finish and the girth of the neck is just right with the added bonus that it's not as neck heavy as the '61. The tuners are junk and were immediately replaced with Grovers just like the '61 (Gibson really needs to abandon that plastic tiped Kluson knock off junk; it's positively awful) . The jury's still out on the baked maple board. It looks and feels okay, but how it holds up over the long haul remains to be seen. Ebony or Rosewood would have been nice but for a grand I guess they had to cut a corner or two. That said, it's a solid guitar for one big bill.
