P-90 single-coil
The Gibson SG Junior '60s sports a single P-90 in the bridge position. Gibson's first successful single-coil pickup, the P-90 can be heard on countless classic recordings. With its biting treble and high output, the P-90 cleans up nicely when you roll back your guitar's volume pot. And when you hit your amp hard, the P-90 really wails. Slim taper mahogany neck
The Gibson SG Junior '60s sports a comfortable, fast-action neck. Whether you're chording down low or soloing up high, the distinctive Slim taper always feels just right. With its slick baked maple fingerboard and iconic double-horned cutaway that gives you access to all 22 frets, this SG Special's a lean, mean rock machine.

Nitrocellulose finish
The Gibson SG Junior '60s wears a gorgeous nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Nitro finishes - standard back in the '60s and '70s - are significantly thinner than today's polyurethane finishes, allowing the guitar to "breathe." Nitro finishes not only look vintage-y wonderful; they also enhance the instrument's tonal qualities.
