ReviewsSimply Amazing Guitar
by Howard Pavane from Long Island, NY
I was lucky to get a call from my excellent sarles engineer, Brad Every, on Dec. 14 that SW had received one of the guitars we had been discussing - I reserved it & called back latter that day to com... read more [+]plete my order. I asked that the guitar be restrung with Elixir Nanoweb strings by SW, added other gear to my order (including a Gator case), and 3 days later everything arrived at my home!December 20, 2011 Music Background: Pro Songwriter & Musician, with over 50 years experience My wife & I immediately unpacked the equipment, set up an amp and mic in the den and within a few minutes I was playing one of the most amazing electric guitars I ever owned. Both of us were impressesd with the wonderfully warm clean tone from the humbuckers & by the beautiful construction, fit & finish are perfect, that went into this Korean built PRS. Don't let the fact this PRS is made overseas stop you from trying and buying one. It truly is worth far more than the price would suggest - actually it is a steal. Playability is incredibly sweet. The wide-thin fretboard lets me wrap my small hands around the neck with ease. The double cutout body allows all 24 frets to be reached. In fact, the PRS SE is easier to play than other acoustics I own that cost more than 3 times what this baby goes for. And if looks matter to you, the Tri-Color Sunburst is a beauty (the pictures don't do it justice). The workmanship is incredible. And the PRS iconic bird fret marker inlays finish it off nicely. I would not hesitate to recommend this fine instrument. The set-up from SW was perfect. No fret buzz, great action. The only thing I needed to do was break in the Elixir strings until it held the tuning. As always Sweetwater's customer service was excellent. Thanks again to Brad Every for putting up with all my questions and concerns. I would not buy music gear from anyone else. I have never had a problem in all the years I have been a customer. close [-] Absolutely amazing

Perfectly constructed neck, very easy to slide around. Although you really cannot get past .12s, the construction here is nearly flawless. This is probably because I have massive hands. But the pickups have a very nice response. I can put my pointer directly under the string and pull up while on the neck pickup and sound like a bass slap. Then I can switch to the bridge pickup and shred away. Endless, proper, affordable tone. close [-]

July 26, 2011 Music Background: Student/Musician Great value, great service

For background, I do own some American built guitars. This is my 3rd PRS SE, and I have been thrilled with all of them. My other two are a Soapbar II, and Singlecut. This is my first with a tremolo... read more [+]. I was a little worried about tuning stability, but so far it has been excellent, and every bit as good as my stop-tails. The metal trem adds a certain "chime" to the sound, which acoustically is a little more Strat like. Through the amp, the humbuckers are silent for noise, high output, but retain very good definition and are not muddy. I feel a tremendous difference in the neck thickness of this wide-thin neck, as compared to the wide-fat, and for me, it makes it much easier to play and get around on. The 24 fret neck combined with the PRS cut makes those higher frets like 15-18, much easier to reach with no guitar body blocking any part of your hand. And of course, the fit and finish are exquisite as you would expect from any PRS. George from Sweetwater was great to deal with; polite and very responsive. And this is the first guitar I have ever received from either UPS or a brick and mortar store, that arrived perfectly set up, and almost perfectly in tune. Obviously it didn't come from Korea like that, so I guess there is a Sweetwater difference. close [-]
