Customer Reviewsfrom MI November 25, 2011Music Background: Hobbyist, Amateur Muscian Killer for the PriceI absolutely love this mic. It's the best thing I've heard in this price range. It's fairly flat, works great with vocals and guitar. and it's also very sturdy. I've dropped it a few times now, cut phantom power without properly disconnecting (cringing all the way), and the thing still works like the day it was born. It has a slight tenancy to sound a little saturated in the mid-range frequencies, but it subtle and not undesirable. The hardshell carrying case is really nice as well.from Caribbean July 24, 2011Music Background: Sound Engineer/musician Great Mic for the Price!!I studied at Sound Engineering at SAE London and had the opportunity to try out loads of different mics and to me, I found this mic to be awesome, especially after I found out how cheap it was. I have used the NT1A before which would be the other mic that competes with it this in price range and I still think this mic records a lot clearer. For this Price Its the best mic I ve used in its category/price range and when I managed to save some money I went out at bought it! I now own a U87 aiZ and a stereo pair c414s ,I have put this mic up against them and it can still compete! It is still part of my arsenal. If your on a budget and want a good Condenser mic look no further. It sounds great on vocals, guitars , and drums!! And Im looking forward to trying it on different applications as more recording opportunities allow!!from Tampa, FL May 14, 2011Music Background: Audio Engineer Incredible mic for the price!I bought this mic with the intention to use it mostly as a mono room mic for drums. Only once I got it did I find out how good it is on almost everything! As a drum room mic, it sounded BETTER alone then my spaced pair of C-414's. On acoustic guitar, it performs extremely well, giving me a fuller overall tone than I thought was possible in this price range. I even stuck this mic on a guitar cab just to see what would happen, and when blended correctly, it creates a nice effect! If you have $300 to burn and want a versatile and durable condenser, get this awesome product! from Albuquerque, NM October 19, 2011Music Background: Recording Engineer, Musician Excellent general purpose micPurchased this for acoustic guitar, limited vocals, and other instruments. Very warm and smooth, accurate sound, gets the job done at a price I can afford.from Virginia February 21, 2012Music Background: Pro Musician, Recording engineer Great Microphone for live recordingI used a pair of these mics for a live recording of a 5 piece rock band in order to catch the room. Great clarity and built for the road.from Central Illinois July 24, 2010Music Background: B.A. Music, Former Pro Trombonist and Home Studio Junkie A nice first mic that you will keep.I bought my first SE2200A used on eBay. I later sold it and bought a brand new one that had the aluminum case and the really nice (and big) shock mount. I owned a number of mics in this price range (RODE NT2/CAD M1/STUDIO PROJECTS C3 and this one replaced them all.I A/B'd my 2200A with a 70's Neumann U87 at a friend's pro studio. The SE2200A is clearly not and never will be a U87 but we were pretty suprised at some of the sonic similarities. |
