This Yamaha Snare Drum Cuts Through!

For the Brass Nouveau SD-4455 snare drum, Yamaha applied a new metal shell manufacturing process to an all-new brass shell to create a drum that cuts through with a well-balanced tone. Yamaha has more than 100 years of experience making acoustic instruments, and the SD-4455 snare drum reflects the quality and musicality that's found in all Yamaha drums.

Brass shell cuts through loud music
Brass snare drums cut through loud music but still maintain a good balance of brightness and warmth that work well in most musical situations. The 14" x 5.5" SD-4455 follows a classic beaded design that provides structural strength and optimum tone. Rim shots and cross stick sounds have remarkably bright attacks.

Quick-release Nouveau lugs allow shell to vibrate
The SD-4455 features Yamaha's quick-release, low-contact Nouveau lugs. These allow the shell to vibrate for a more resonant drum and a wide dynamic range. The lugs allow much quicker head changes because the tension rods don't have to be removed to take the hoop off.


Detachable snare strainer makes changing bottom head easy
The SD-4455's detachable strainer and butt allow you to remove the snare wires for snare side head changes and re-attach them quickly with a single drum key screw. A tension indicator allows you to easily adjust your snares to the same tension when changing snare wires. A precision 1.8mm snare bed allows maximum projection without choking the drum.


2.3mm triple flanged Dyna Hoop allows precise tuning
Yamaha's 2.3mm thick triple flange Dyna Hoops are strong, giving you precise tuning, yet they allow the drum to open up.
