ATC's proprietary handcrafted drivers
The SCM25A Mk2 comes loaded with ATC's proprietary dual-suspension drivers, all handmade and wound to exacting specifications for playback that's as accurate as possible. This powered studio monitor's 6.5-inch, short-coil low-frequency driver features a carbon-paper cone. Its 3-inch, soft-dome midrange driver tackles the 380Hz–3.5kHz frequency range. The SCM25A Mk2 also includes a 1-inch, soft-dome high-frequency driver. This tri-amplified monitor delivers 150 watts to the woofer, 60 watts to the midrange driver, and 25 watts to the tweeter. ATC's renowned low-distortion technology, apparent throughout the speaker, includes a fourth-order critically damped, phase-compensated crossover and a passively cooled, FET-limited amplifier block.
Easily tailor the speaker to your room
The audio engineers here at Sweetwater are impressed by how easy it is to tailor the ATC SCM25A Mk2 to your listening space. This studio monitor not only includes a continuously variable +6dB bass boost at 40Hz, but also a continuously variable -6dB input trim, for dead-simple low-frequency control and gain-staging. The SCM25A Mk2 also comes with a foam port bung, enabling you to attenuate the speaker's low-frequency output in smaller rooms. The port bung provides -1.5dB of attenuation, centered around 80Hz, while the monitor's output below 45Hz increases by approximately 1dB.
The legacy of ATC monitors
A young engineer named Billy Woodman spent his younger days working side by side with some of the best speaker engineers of his day. In 1974 Billy went on to found ATC, Acoustic Transducer Company, and began building amazing-sounding speakers. Today ATC hand builds speakers one at a time to ensure the utmost quality and best sound. Billy continues to invent new drivers, new speakers, and new ideas, giving you the best monitors in the industry. How good are ATC monitors? Just ask producers and engineers like George Massenburg, Chuck Ainley, and Doug Sax. You'll also find them in Abbey Road Studios, Sony Studios New York, Blackbird Studios, among other storied facilities. Grab a pair of ATC SCM25A Mk2 monitors and hear the difference they'll make in your studio.
