I've owned and used many bass preamp pedals, including Hartke Bass Attack, Sansamp Bass Driver DI, and Sadowsky. The VT provides not only incredibly great reproduction of the Ampeg amp tone but goes way beyond that in versatility. Each tone control is very powerful so that treble/mid/bass can be reduced or added considerably. The Character control adds a large amount of tonal variety. Finally, the Drive control adds "grit" in small or large amounts, depending upon how wide you open the pot. This preamp provides anything from a fat, warm tone to in-your-face sound, all with plenty of punch and musicality. The VT is the best bass preamp pedal I've ever owned or heard. I got a very fair price at Sweetwater. Don't be afraid to call to ask for the best price. I used to make purchases at a different store but I've been sold on Sweetwater for their personal touch and fair dealings. close [-]

All of the Ampeg sounds you know and love can be dialed in - rigid and clean to something just plain dirty.... read more [+] It's an American-made box, and it can take any sort of abuse your feet can inflict. Be warned, though: the controls are very sensitive, so you must go easy (at first).
