super guitar!

By john rust from farmington hillls mi on May 6, 2018 Music Background: hobbyist

I have a Gibson j45, two martins, one d15, and one d35, this guitar plays
better than all of them, the action is very low, and very easy to play all
the way up the neck. this is the best four hundred dollar guitar I have ever
played. see clint branstter for a good deal.

More than meets the eye (and wallet)

By Dan Ray from Greensboro, NC on May 2, 2018

I've been an electric player basically my whole career, but the time has come to get an acoustic, for a couple solo gigs I have coming up. I tried several guitars, read a bunch of reviews, but when my Sweetwater sales tech Joseph Secu put me onto the Seagull brand, it got my attention. I've played a Godin xtSA for a few years now and loved it, so I have high expectations for Godin's acoustic brand.

The S6 looks GORGEOUS. The solid cedar top has some book-matched character to it. The wild cherry sides and back are so pretty I want to take them out to dinner.

Acoustically, the guitar is very balanced and has a ton of punch. Rich bass through sparkly highs. It's extremely articulate; you can really manipulate the tone with your playing style. Plugged in, it's just as nice. Warm and shimmery at the same time, and very capable of thumping out a groove.

It holds tune like nothing I've ever played. I took it to my first acoustic solo gig last weekend and the tuning stability while I banged out 80s cover tunes on it was ridiculous. Seagull's really onto something with the straight-pull headstock. It looks a little weird at first, but the proof is in the lack of needing to tune every three songs.

This isn't just a great guitar for the price: this is a great guitar. At this price point, it's a steal.

Beautiful guitar to look at. Sounds great. I was quite pleased with the way the guitar was packaged I was worried about damage in shipment. It was packed just WONDERFUL I AM A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER. Great sounding instrument, my friends just find it very nice. Excellent price excellent product excellent service. I am going to change the strings, only because I like a mellow sound these strings are very bright sounding to me. Would I recommend this guitar YES I DO. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

An incredible sounding, feeling, and looking acoustic guitar ... especially at this amazing price! Sounds and feels WAY more expensive than it is. I cannot get over the quality of build and sound of this affordable guitar. Two HUGE thumbs up to Godin/Seagull Guitars for this one! I love it!

Fantastic !!!

By Timothy Tabaka from Saginaw, MI on January 23, 2018

I had been looking at Seagulls for a time, and was intrigued by the fact that these are Canadian. Thus there is affordability in a North American built guitar. After reading may reviews and doing much research, I decided to pull the trigger. Problem was, they were always on back order. Solution: I found this S-6 Classic as a demo. The only flaw is a tiny nick on the back edge by the amp plug-in which is not noticeable unless you know it is there. This saved me $70. It arrived in two days and was packed in original packaging. All I can say is that it sounds FANTASTIC !!! It is also a piece of fine workmanship. I highly recommend Seagull. Thanks to associate Bart Amburn, who called the same evening I made the order to assure me it would ship the next day. Working with Sweetwater is always the best. One last thing: The demo that I bought was the exact one pictured online, so I could purchase with confidence regarding the Nick.

A gem!

By Seth Alder from Northwest Ohio on December 25, 2017 Music Background: Amateur

This guitar sounds like guitars 3x the price. The attention to detail is unbeatable at this price point. A beveled fret board and low action make this guitar play as easy as my electric. Beautiful finish. I am in love.

S6....the best

Awesome guitar

By Tom from Mississippi on September 28, 2017

My main guitar is a Gibson J29, I'm a big fan of a natural finish, 1.72 nut and short scale. I was looking for a beach/campfire guitar when I came upon this lil gem. It is exactly what I was looking for. Smooth neck, low action and great tone. The back of my guitar has a large ripple grain pattern that's really cool. I play mainly unplugged however the tuner is nice. I also bought the TRIC case which is built like a lightweight yeti cooler. Great guitar, great price, chicks dig it!

Probably the Best Bang for the Buck!

By William McCracken from Saginaw, TX on August 10, 2017

I spent the last couple of years searching for that "just right" beginner guitar. I'm mainly a keyboard player. But my wife is playing a Baby Taylor that she bought here at Sweetwater and I wanted to learn along with her. So I've tried a few Ibanez, Fender, Yamaha, and Ovation guitars. None were quite right for me or my needs/wants. Then I found this Seagull and it is the bomb! First, it is made in North America, a plus for me. Second, the setup out of the box (neck relief and string height) were right on the money. This is very playable. Third, it sounds great amplified or unamplified - full lows and crisp highs. Fourth, it looks great. Awesome book-matching on the front, back and even on the sides. I don't know how Seagull can make such a great guitar at this price point, but it is, IMO, the best bang for the buck. Lastly, Frank Gerdtz, as always, comes through for me and ensures that I get what I want/need and follows up after the purchase.

Nice guitar

Seagull S6 Classic Natural

By Tim from San jacinto, Calif. on May 7, 2017

This is an awesome guitar.

The setup, and the action, are very good. The intonation and action are great, very forgiving making it easier to learn the fret board ( learning notes, cords, scales, stuming, and learning to read
music again are a lot of fun.)

The tone has rich full bodied lows and highs. It stays pretty much in tune. The tuner is a great feature. I found it works as a usefull tool to learn notes on the fret board also. ( I know that this is not what its meant for, but sometimes it helps. ) I have not pluged into an amp yet. I have faith that the electronics will be great sounding also.

The natural finish exposing the beautiful wood grains of wild cherry sides and back are gorgeous, along with the spurce top and maple neck, with rosewood fret board and the fit and finish are all exceptional quality.

Thanks Drew for wrapping up sales end.
Thanks Nick for returning my many phone calls
and answering my many questions.

My only complant is that the free ground shipping, took a whole 7 days to arrive here. Other than that the guitar arrived in excellent condition

What a great guitar

By Daniel P from Mammoth Lakes on January 12, 2017

I'd been researching and looking at guitars for a few months, and was considering a different guitar. But then I was reading the reviews on Seagulls, nothing but positives. i'm just learning and I wanted something that would last longer than the beginner phase, so I chose the Seagull.

I also have to say the service is great, Sweetwater is a top-notch outfit to purchase from.

Fantastic deal for fantastic products!

How in the world??

By WC Kelly from Florida on July 9, 2015 Music Background: Gigging musician

How in the world does Seagull make this guitar and sell it for $399? I played literally 40-50 acoustic guitars at 3 local stores (including Guitar Center) and this was the one I brought home. I wanted something for less than $600 with electronics. I also wanted something made in North America if possible. However, I looked at guitars from all different countries of origin. This guitar just did it for me. Seagull (Godin) is making unbelievable guitars. I encourage you to take a hard look at any of the Godin family of instruments before purchasing any guitar built overseas.

Extremely Pleased

By Dale Funderburg from West Point, MS on May 11, 2015

It's been several years since I've "made" the time to play guitar. I have a really nice Martin, but my son began using it during high school and then college to lead in Praise teams and bands during worship services in churches, BSU and events. As a Pastor, it was great to see my son using his talents to serve a higher purpose and gratifying to see the Martin in good use because I surely wasn't playing it any longer. I was sort of stuck with an old Hohner I bought in 1979 and a Seagull 12-string that was my sons before he took over the Martin. Neither had any electronics. The Hohner still sounds pretty good, but it's one of the hardest guitars to play that I've ever picked up. Recently I have dealt with some health issues with Epstein Barr virus and resulting and lingering health troubles. I've been forced to take a sabbatical and playing guitar has resurfaced as an old friend of great comfort. I played the Hohner long enough to get my fingers conditioned and then ordered this Seagull, primarily because of the price. I could not be more pleased. The playability is great - comparable to the Martin ... seriously! The sound is crisp and the electronics were a bonus - they provide a great presence; not just mid-range, and yet not muddy nor "twangy." I've only had it a couple of days, but for the price - I don't think I could be any more satisfied, maybe for even twice the price. Also, this is my first guitar to ever buy without physically playing. I didn't think I would ever do this, but with my energy levels suffering, on-line order became a viable solution. Wow! What a great experience from ordering it, to actually holding it in my hands. Sweetwater is top shelf in their customer service. I got a couple of courtesy calls. What if I had order a guitar in the price range comparable to my old Martin? I guess they would have hand-delivered it? They were great. (BTW - I haven't had a Bit-O-Honey in years). The packing was extremely secure and to my amazement, the guitar was in perfect tune out-of-the-box. I can't say enough positive about my experience... and no I'm not just saying this because anybody from Sweetwater goes to my church either! :) To quote a reference from the NT, "I was a stranger and you took me in." It's "refreshing" to see a company live up to it's name! :)

Seagull S6 Classic M-45T Natural

By Michael Wysmierski from Chicago, IL on July 22, 2018

This is one gorgeous looking guitar, simple and elegant (pictures don't do it justice, must be seen in person to really be appreciated).

The wood on the guitar is absolutely phenomenal, giving it a beautiful full sounding clear clean tone. It has excellent sustain and is very pleasing to the ears.

The setup right out of the box is very good. The action on the guitar could be a bit lower but it is very playable as is.

The well designed headstock helps give very good tuning stability. Very good tuners and no problem for big fingered persons.

The maple neck and rosewood fretboard are excellent. The fret work is perfect.

The Tusq nut and compensated saddle help with harmonics when you compare it to bone.

The electronics on the guitar are very good and sound very good. The tuner is good but I prefer the D'Addario Planet Waves NS Mini Headstock Tuner as it is more accurate in my opinion.

...This is a guitar that should easily cost $1200... That is amazing! This is a quality instrument hand made in Canada with fantastic sounding wood. Buy it!

Beautiful craftsmanship

By Sandy Kodish from Alabama on August 8, 2017

Arrived in perfect condition, the packing is almost artwork all by itself. The wood on the body is beautiful and flawless. The sound is quite nice with great sustain. Tuning machines are of high quality. The electronic pre amp system works well with its built in tuner. The playability is very good, certainly not in the ranks of lets say a Martin but neither is the price. You will still get way more than you pay for in this high quality instrument. For me the sound was too twangy so I swapped them out for a more softer tone.sandy

Great Acoustics

By Dev B from NJ on May 9, 2017

The Seagull S-6 has a brilliant tone, though the Walnut back and sides is not exactly compatible with the electronics. Having a cedar top, the electronics can be quite a nuisance – feedback, strange sounds; I have decided not to use the electronics that came with it but to switch to a microphone. As an acoustic guitar, the sound and playability is outstanding. I did change the strings though, I prefer Martin strings over the original. Overall very happy with the guitar, you cannot get a better instrument at that price.
