Since I've been using a Fractal Axe-FX Ultra for recording - going directly into a mixer - I really, really miss feedback. So, with high expectations, I ordered this pedal and received it yesterday. I... read more [+] used it last night for about 4 hours and have it reasonably well sussed. May 3, 2013 Music Background: Guitar player, Composer Expectations are at the root of most disappointment, so I'll plead guilty to lofty preconceived notions about how the Runaway pedal would work. I'm not blown away, but, neither am I bummed. Within it's limitations, it does deliver quite acceptable feedback. It's not as controllable as real coupled-system resonance (normal acoustic) feedback, but is will wail aplenty once you have it dialed. - It will only work with single notes which are well struck/plucked/hammered or pulled-off. Apologetic picking is not rewarded with the same reliable results. - Notes not firmly held to the end of their value (sloppiness) can result in a synth-like glitch which are not cool. - Finger grease (vibrato, milking etc.) is respected to an extent but too much pitch change doesn't seem to track as well as it might - Some settings will get you a portmento effect (a glissando or slide) into the next note assuming you hold the pedal toe-down (feedback ON) as you fret. - The effect is NOT polyphonic - a major disappointment for me (see expectations above). Chords will not oscillate in the incredibly cool way they do in the acoustic world. Even with these caveats, when contrasted to what the pedal DOES do, you are still left with a very cool addition to what the universe of 'modeling' has not even begun to offer us until now. I found that by the end of my first night with the product, I had managed to incorporate it seamlessly into 2 new song structures which good potential. In short, I was not longer thinking about how to use the pedal but was simply putting it to use! Conclusion: if you work in the digital realm and have been missing feedback - or have never experienced how cool it can be - get this pedal, learn it and thrive… It IS good. close [-]
