The Rubicon 5a Active Ribbon Studio Monitor is a 2-way system that incorporates the best of traditional and exotic technology to give you clean, uncolored sound. The Rubicon 5a's newly-designed 5" inverted-cone low frequency driver is powered by a built-in 50-watt amplifier to reproduce tight, clear bass sounds. And the high frequency ribbon receives 25 watts to do its magic.

The beauty and response of a ribbon tweeter
The real magic of the Rubicon 5a is its 2" Velocity Ribbon high frequency driver. Ribbons have no resonant color and are non-dispersive, unlike a traditional diaphragm tweeter. The ribbon driver itself has no added sound characteristics; there is no addition or subtraction to the harmonics of the sound the ribbon is producing, so it is completely neutral. Ribbon technology gives you clean, accurate and precise listening, which is why these monitors sound so natural and lifelike - just like a studio monitor should!

A ported enclosure completes the sound
The bi-amplified Rubicon 5a is housed in a shelf-ported wood enclosure with balanced 1/4" and RCA input connections. A new-design 4-segment high frequency lift control allows you to dial in the ribbon tweeter to your preferred level.

“When I came to Sweetwater and told my sales advisor Greg that I was looking for a set of monitors he told me about the 8in" version of these but after listening to these along with a set of Adam A7's and a set of Dynaaudio BM5's I could not believe my ears! These speakers are the truth! For the money you will not find a set of monitors that sound as clear and accurate as these do period. Read More
