The 8-Channel Rosetta!

Apogee's all-new Rosetta 800 takes two of the most celebrated Apogee products and the latest in high-definition digital and combines them into one impressive package. The Rosetta 800 gives you eight channels of superior AD/DA conversion at sample rates of up to 192k, Apogee's "SoftLimit", "UV22HR", and their advanced "Intelliclock". The Rosetta 800 is a premium digital recording solution that is built for the professional recording facility yet economical enough for the project studio. Every studio should have a Rosetta 800!

Rosetta 800 At-a-Glance:
  • Apogee Conversion in High-Definition
  • Firewire for Future Connectivity
  • SoftLimit
  • UV22HR
  • Intelliclock

Apogee Conversion in High-Definition
The most crucial component in the digital recording environment is high-quality conversion and the most trusted and desirable converters are made by Apogee. With up to 192k sample rates, the Rosetta 800 combines Apogee's legendary conversion quality with flexibility that complements any digital audio workstation.

Firewire for Future Connectivity
Rosetta 800 has room for expansion. With the optional Firewire card installed , you'll be able to connect the Rosetta 800 natively to any Firewire input device, without the need for additional hardware.

SoftLimit
One of the greatest difficulties in digital recording is getting an adequate level without clipping and unwanted distortion. With Apogee's SoftLimit, you can maximize digital output levels without overs.

UV22HR
UV22HR is Apogee's industry standard technology for reducing the word-length of a high-resolution digital signal to 16 bits for the internet and CD mastering. UV22HR is also being employed in the Rosetta 800 to produce dramatically improved internet and computer audio content without increased file sizes or data rates.

Intelliclock
Another essential for outstanding digital recording is maintaining an ultra-low-jitter, clock signal. To accomplish this, Rosetta 800 utilizes Apogee's Intelliclock. Intelliclock is really two clocks in one. A fast-responding 'read' clock, with a wide locking range, fills a dedicated FIFO buffer, while an ultra-low-jitter 'write' clock writes the data out of the buffer, and is used to clock the converters.

Rosetta 800 Features:
  • 8 channels of premium 24-bit AD/DA conversion
  • Sample rates up to 192kHz
  • 8 channels of AES, ADAT I/O
  • Optional Firewire card for compatibility with OS X, and Windows XP
  • "Soft Limit" for maximum digital level without overs
  • "UV22HR" for superior dither to 16-bit
  • Unique channel selection for flexible signal routing
  • Advanced, dual-stage "Intelliclock"
  • Legendary Apogee quality

Sweetwater Advice

Carson McClain
The Rosetta 800 gives you eight channels of I/O, more than enough for most home studios. And apogee quality is near-legendary. Too many times people try to skimp on price and the long term effect is bad mixes. Jump in to the realm of the pros with the Rosetta 800.
Andy Bitler
Yes - you WILL hear a difference! The most critical stage of any modern digital recording studio is the analog to digital conversion. Anything less than stellar is a compromise. With the Rosetta 800, you can add eight channels of high-end, professional A/D to your existing rig via ADAT lightpipe, use it as a standalone FireWire interface using the optional expansion card, or even plug directly into your Pro Tools|HD system with the X-HD card expansion! If you are serious about your sound, Apogee converters are worth every penny.
Nate Edwards
What a great way to add eight more channels to any setup with ADAT or AES/EBU hookups. The converters sound phenomenal, and work great with just about any digital audio system. If you want the best, these are the best.

I worked with RME FIREFACE 800 for years and wanted to add more 8 A/D-D/A converters for completing my Dangerous 2-bus LT chain and choose apogee
ROSETTA 800 with ADAT connection to RME.

You can get amazing clarity out of your vocals, and/or instruments. Symphonic instruments sounds beautifully detailed; especially 192k high resolution. If money is not a dilemma, you can stack multiple units for an enormous epic scoring projects. Such as, Skywalker Sound using this product while recording an orchestral composition for a battle scene in Star Wars.
The internal AD/DA conversion is controlled by a powerful quartz word-clock source. With the selectable sample rate and bit-dept, makes it easy to digitize and sync multiple analog signals with your recording software. Moreover, this item can be used as a master clocking source for other devices to slave to.
For you mastering engineers, this is a excellent tool to use in the last stage of your processes. If you like to bounce your final mix to an external two track recorder, you can use this tool to put the finishing HD touch on your masterpiece!
Overall, the only unit that comes closest to the Rosetta 800 is the Digidesign 192 I/O. Although the conversion quality is "neck-to-neck,"the Apogee has proven itself to be the king in this market. close [-]

Our Customers Say...

I can talk to my Sales Engineer about any piece of equipment, and he always steers me in the right direction. He truly knows what he's talking about, and he never tries to over-sell me on anything. If he worked in the Nashville area, I'd probably owe him about 20 dinners by now!
