From Our Research Team:

Hear Your Tube Amp's True Character!

Rivera's RockCrusher power attenuator and load box could be your gateway to epic tube-amp tonal bliss. The tone of a tube amp is directly related to the power of the signal it receives, and how much amplification is added by the tubes themselves. Said another way, if you're not cranking up your tube amp you're not really hearing its full tone! Unfortunately, it's not always possible (or comfortable!) to turn up your tube amp to its tonal sweet spot. The solution? Rivera's RockCrusher.

Place the RockCrusher between your amp and speaker cabinet and you'll be able to crank up the tone on your amp while keeping your volume down. The RockCrusher's reactive load network is constantly maintaining the proper relationship of impedance and inductive/capacitive reactance. In guitar-speak, that means that the RockCrusher lets you push your amp to its limits while keeping your volume down. On stage, you'll be able to keep stage volume down for better monitoring and overall sonic clarity. In the studio, you'll be able to record the tone you want without creating bleed into other mics - or your neighbor's house.

The RockCrusher also serves a dual purpose as a load box. Tube amps interact with the impedance load that a speaker cabinet puts on the amp's output - if you plug into your amp and just hook the amp's output to a recording device, you won't get the tone you expect. By hooking up the RockCrusher to your amp's speaker outputs, it interacts with your amp to provide the true tone you're looking for. Perfect for recording studios of any size.

The RockCrusher is built with 16-gauge welded steel and industrial grade components, making it as capable on a world tour as it is in your studio. If you play a tube amp, and want the ability to get killer tone out of it at reasonable volumes, the Rivera RockCrusher is a must-have.

Rivera RockCrusher Features at a Glance:
  • 8-ohm and 16-ohm modes let you use the RockCrusher with almost any amp/speaker combination
  • Lets you hear your tube amp's tone like you've never heard it before
  • Bombproof construction lets you take it to even the wildest gigs
  • Balanced XLR and unbalanced 1/4" outputs let you easily interface with your recording gear
  • Tonally transparent so you hear your amp, not the RockCrusher

What Makes a Product a "Demo"?
At Sweetwater, "Demo" usually means one of the following:
  • It might have spent a little time in our display room.
  • A Sales Engineer may have put it through its paces to explain it to customers.
  • It could have been tried out for a few days.
We treat demo models exactly as we treat new gear. You get a full manufacturer's warranty, as well as Sweetwater's commitment to customer satisfaction. Other than it having been in someone's hands or hanging on a rack for a brief period of time, it's as good as new - at a great bargain!

RockCrusher is terrific product

This is an amazing attenuator. I get great tone at low volume. I can't listen to my amp set on anything above 2 as its too loud and my neighbors would complain. It is built real heavy duty and it does... read more [+]n't get hot. I love it and HIGHLY recommend it. close [-]

Awesome!!

I have mostly master volume amps because I had tried attenuators before and they were no good. Even the Weber Mass left me disappointed. But I picked some great amps - Reeves, TopHat, Dr. Z, Germino -... read more [+] and some without masters. Even those with masters just beg to be cranked. The Rivera reviews sounded legit so I bought it. It is huge, solid, and heavy. And it works. I sat on the floor in front of my 4X12 cabinet with the Reeves amp (basically a Hiwatt) on 10 and the Rivera set to "studio." I could dial it down to almost no output and it sounded saturated and incredible. Man, I hope they never stop making these. I like that it has no noisy fan and does not need to be plugged into an outlet. Freakin' great product! close [-]

Works great!

I'm using this to play my Mesa Mark V in 90W mode with output set moderately high producing volume that is less than deafening (still plenty loud when I crank it to get saturation) with no loss of ton... read more [+]e. I'm very happy with the features also. The EQ switches are great for adding mids/lo-mids and/or brightness to the sound. Additionally, the range of attenuation and line out option are very useful. The RockCrusher is expensive, but unless you have a studio to really crank your amp worry-free, then it's worth every penny to get the sound that you want to hear from your amp. I consider the attenuator inseparable from my amp. If you wouldn't skimp out on a tube amp, then don't skimp out on this either--it's worth it if you value your tone. close [-]

Everything was exactly as promised. I was impressed with the phone call I received from your guy when I had just placed the order. He was very thorough and professional in every way. I love my new digital piano. Your wide selection and excellent service as well as your "3 Payment Plan" and the 2 year warranty sealed the deal for me on this purchase. No one else could come close.
