A Tone Tweaker's Dream

Are you picky about your tone? Always tweaking your settings or modding your amp? We have the amp for you. Your dreams are ready to come true with the Egnater Renegade head. Not only is the amp switchable from 65W to 18W, but it has two sets of power tubes featuring 6L6 and El34 tubes. The power tubes are controlled with a Tube Mix knob that lets you dial in the perfect mix of the California-sounding 6L6 tubes or the British-flavored EL34s. Dial in that perfect tone, no matter your preference.

Each channel is extremely independent in the Renegade Head. Each channel has its own Tube Mix, EQ section, reverb, master volume, and gain controls. The reverb is designed to spill over from channel to channel and not cut off the tail. This extremely well thought out amp has six 12AX7 tubes, an effects loop, a cabinet-simulated direct out, a 4-button footswitch, and a heavy duty cover. The Egnater Renegade Head is a tonemonger's dream.

Egnater Renegade Head Features at a Glance:
  • Mix your power tubes between 6L6 and EL34

Egnator Renegade Head

This is a very nice and affordable amp. It provides a great spectrum of tone-shaping capabilities. I can get lush cleans and crisp/fat drive sounds. Love the foot-pedal options for channel (clean o... read more [+]r drive), effects (separate loop--set to either or both channels), reverb (in or out--set to either or both channels), and main 2 (can be set as a nice boost switch for solos). The drive tone is very nice but not my absolute favorite (sometimes I will put a customized drive in front of amp—it accepts all effects pedals very well). Great blend option for EL34 and 6L6 tubes, which is not well distinguishable at lower volumes; however, when pushed, both are quite distinct (separate or blended). The density and presence knobs add nicely to tone shaping; however, it would be preferable to have separate adjustments for each channel (set it and forget it when toggling between the both channels). Finally, while it is quite manageable as is, a lower wattage version would be helpful for smaller venues. The lower wattage amps made by Egnater are largely EL84/6V6 combinations and I prefer the EL34 tones. I have used this amp successfully for multiple praise and worship centers. The head version allows for needed stage use/adjustment while supporting an off-stage speaker cabinet that is isolated to minimize stage volume. close [-]
