This dual platform creative tool has extensive sound designing capabilities, with over 500 programs, six programmable Elements, multi-wave oscillators with ring modulation, and a whole host of envelopes, filters, and LFOs for creating mind-blowing sounds. Rapture's multi-mode wavetable oscillators create an nearly unending supply of sonic variety, and you can multiply each oscillator up to 9 times across the stereo field and engage the controlled detuning for beefy synth tones that you've never heard before. I own too many hardware synths, and always looking for something to compete with them. Rapture is thick, fat, analog sounding, whatever you'd like. Arguably, the workflow could definitely be better, and the routing configurations aren't as clean as in some synths, but this is one synth you must own! close [-]

I held off purchasing Rapture for about 2 years after it debut in the soft synth world, however after viewing Computer Music's recent Top 10 Software Synthesizers special video with Rapture coming in ... read more [+]at 7, I decided to go ahead and buy it.December 14, 2007 Music Background: Hobbyist I was astounded at the extremely wide palette of sounds that Rapture offered. Not to mention the mind-blowing sound-shaping capabilities that it offered! It'll probably take you a whole lifetime to play with all the sounds in Rapture! The defining factor of Rapture is in its slogan: Synthesis Ignited. The sounds were absolutely full and rich, and lives up to the hype that its very inspiring with sounds like no other soft synth out there. I got engrossed experimenting and doing minor tweaking of the sounds to suit my taste. But really; not much editing is needed for someone like me because the presets already sound great! My only gripe is that there is no defined arp section or effect plugin that you can insert a sound into. I believe I got more bang for the buck in Rapture than I did for Spectrasonics' Atmosphere synth module. close [-] Sounds Are very Big and Clean
