Customer Reviewsfrom Twin Cities, MN February 6, 2013Music Background: Hobbyist Better than you could ever expect it to be...As reviewer "Zach" said above, this is the ideal guitar for a beginner because the neck is thin, the action is low, and it's just so darn friendly to play. However, "beginner's guitar" really is an unfair for this description because there are elements of it on par with $500 guitars. The neck is almost Jackson or Gibson like in its playability. The frets are filed down smooth. It stays in tune remarkably well, certainly better than a stock Squier. Then there's the pickups - they are likely ceramic, but they are incredibly hot, in a good way! The magnet pole pieces are oversized, and this may contribute to the bold sound. H-S-S configuration, in my opinion, offers maximum versatility across rock, blues, country, and so on. The switches and pots seem a bit on the cheap side, but that's not surprising, and also easy to upgrade in the future. I actually think I'm leaving as much of it stock as I can. It sounds like an overwound Strat, but with a super sleek body and faster neck. Say what you want about Peavey, but it's just a nice instrument at an unbelievable price. from Massachusetts November 13, 2011Music Background: Student Excellent Guitar for the MoneyI have owned this guitar for approximately six years and, honestly, have been amazed with the quality of this instrument. The ease of playing and the neck shape are, in my opinion, better than that of a Standard Stratocaster and I have been hard-pressed to find a better instrument for under $700. Definitely would recommend this guitar to any beginner or player on a budget, it will serve you well!
