Great pickup

I installed this on a Loar F style Mando. Very easy install. Used the putty and put it behind the bridge pretty much following the instructions. Ran the extra wire under the jack on top so no rattles, works great! Wasn't too concerned about the carpenters jack being pulled off, using a wireless no cable pulling on the jack.
Didn't have any issues zeroing in the sound at all, a little eq and that was it, playing live.
I run this into a Zoom ac2 and into either a Fishman Artist or the aux channel in my Bose L1 pro 8. Very easy to eq and excellent sound. I will add that the Zoom is an excellent unit with all the goodies that you could want or need.
Very pleased with everything that I've mentioned in this review. All great pieces of gear! Highly recommend this pickup for any Mando.

Works perfect when you find the sweet spot

I have used this for over a year and absolutely love it. I use it on my Eastman mandolin playing through a Fishman Artist acoustic amp. You need to Take some time and move the pickup around and try different locations to find the sweet spot. A difference of an inch or two makes a huge difference. Another tip to pass on, regarding mounting the output jack. Wrap a rubber band around the metal bar that has a piece of cork on it, the piece that holds onto the edge at the backside of the mandolin body, It not only helps protect the finish on the mandolin, it provides a very secure grip with no worry of the Jack mount slipping. I love my LR Baggs pickup. Have patience and find the sweet spot, it sounds as good as using a microphone. I’ve recently added a Radial Tonebone PZ-Deluxe pre amp pedal between the mandolin and the amp and it now sounds better live than any other mandolin setup that I’ve ever heard.

Pleased With My Purchase

I had no idea how this pickup would work on my Gibson A2 but I had to electrify it. Luckily it works surprising well on my Gibby, and provides a true mandolin sound. The lows are punchy and deep and the high end rings true. The jack mounts nicely just like a violin/viola chin rest and stays in place. I've read a few negative reviews and judging from the tenor of them, it seems like the problems are operated error not the fault of the pickup and mount.
Music background: Varies from bluegrass violin/mandolin to orchestral viola.

LR Baggs Mandolin

I like it !! II have it mounted on the outside. You need be take it easy unplugging the cord from the output jack so,that the housing doesn"t disconnect from the mandolin body but it"s not really an issue. I don"t have the housing very tight yet anyway. Take some time to find the sweet spot on your instrument and you will amazed at the sound you get when you find it !! Start behind the bridge on the treble side and move it around in small 1/2" increments til you find the spot, then fine tune the placement in even smaller increments. Awesome natural full bodied sound. I purchased it for a Washburn F style mandolin that is currently on backorder from the factory so I tested this pickup on an older Fender Electric Mandolin. The LR Baggs Radius-M Pickup blowsaway the onboard Fender pickups as far as sound quality goes. Not quite as loud in volume but much much better sound. The lower volume is no problem using an acoustic pickup preamp, all acoustic pickups really need preamps. Bottom line?? Oh yea, baby!! ILike It!!!
