Inspiration
by A Pitcher from Ontario, Canada, September 2006
Music Background: Hobbyist
After playing acoustic for years, I was in the market for a new amp so I could try my hand at the electric guitar again.
Cheaper than a solid state practice amp, I decided the RP50 was better suited for living room playing. Use with headphones or plug into your home stereo with a few connectors from Radio Shack (rock on with stereo surround sound!) and of course it plugs into your amplifier.
This is an entry level product; however the overall quality of the amp modeling, effects and reverb is superb; there is tons of potential in this unit if you dig for it.
The presets were of no use to me and the sound levels vary drastically from one patch to the next; understanding how to navigate the features of the RP50 requires patience, but with time I was creating the custom patches I craved. Keep the manual handy, the two digit LED display is cryptic.
The only drawback is that it made me hungry for more. Since acquiring the PR50 I have bought a new Godin guitar, my neighbor’s 65W Peavey amp, and a Korg Pandora. Even when compared to the feature-packed Pandora, I still prefer the sound of the Digitech.
A great starter pedal; compact size, quality, and value, but you are likely to outgrow it.
a good intro to multi-effects
by Tony H. from Taunton, MA USA, March 2006
this is a good way to get into efects without spending alot of money - but if you stick with guitar playing, you'll probably find you outgrow the RP50 after abit. As for me, I found myself playing the Marshall amp model 95% of the time... so I bought a Marshall amp. After playing with the different modulation effects, I found I prefer phaser over flanger or chorus, so I'm buying an MXR Phase 90. See where I'm going here? It's a GREAT value for the price, and not at all hard to learn how to program - it's a fantastic way to find what you do and don't like regarding the various guitar effects. Check it out, but be prepared to upgrade after awhile. An EXCELLENT first pedal!
This is the best
