Puts the tones of classic amplifiers and stompboxes into your rig
Plug into the DigiTech RP250 and you've immediately tapped into a huge world of classic guitar sounds. This compact stompbox is loaded with 89 models of essential amplifiers, cabinets, and effects. You can easily dial in a huge metal full-stack sound for all-out shredding, then switch it up to a psychedelic '60s-rock tone — or go ahead and "morph" your electric guitar into an acoustic for a minute, to play a subtle fingerpicked section. The DigiTech RP250's built-in expression pedal, four knobs, and two footswitches put you in control of whatever sound you want to summon.

Doubles as a USB audio interface — plug it in and start recording!
Have ideas? Thinking about recording them? The RP250 gives you the tones you need to get creative and it's also loaded with USB connectivity — just plug it into your computer and you'll be ready to record your music. Plus, it records at better-than-CD-quality resolution, so you know your tracks will be demo worthy.

Jam along with your iPod for perfect practice
There's nothing like playing along with favorite tracks to brush up your chops — and the DigiTech RP250 makes it easy to do just that. An onboard stereo 1/8" jack is ready for your iPod, laptop, or CD player — whatever you want to plug in. But, even if you're away from your iPod, you can still take advantage of the RP250's built-in practice tools, including a chromatic tuner and its high-quality drum machine with 60 different patterns, for strumming, finger picking, or soloing in perfect time.

Play at any hour with the headphone output
Don't let the sleeping habits of other people get in the way of your jam sessions. With the DigiTech RP250, you can play at any time of the day, just by using its handy headphone output — plug in your favorite pair of headphones and play as long as you want. On that note, when the hour calls for amplification, it's no problem either. The DigiTech RP250 sports 1/4" left and right outputs, which you can feed to your amplifier or to a mixer. There's even a switch onboard for you to optimize the outputs to the amp or mixer — so you'll be ready to go wherever you need to plug in and play.

Easily manage your presets with Editor/Librarian software
The DigiTech RP250 comes to you loaded with 60 factory presets, so you can instantly plug in and get to jamming. Then, as you tweak your way to new tones you love, you can save them to the RP250's 60 user presets. Don't worry about filling up all of your presets, though — you can use Editor/Librarian software to keep track of all of your favorite presets. It's an especially handy tool when you're preparing to rehearse or gig — just use the software to load up the presets in order of your set list and you'll be ready to rock.

"The Real Thing?"

by Justin from Yellow Springs, OH

Music Background: keyboard player/electronic music producer
I'm a 28 year old keyboard player/electronic music producer who loves all kinds of musical styles. I'm just now getting into playing guitar and I have a very large CD collection ranging from Ambient t... read more [+]o Zydeco. I'm familiar with how guitar recordings should sound on nice studio monitors. Right now I'm using the RP250 as my direct USB input into my Mac and running a MOTU Ultralite as the firewire output device into ADAM A7 powered monitors with no noticable latency. The RP250 sounds like the real thing. I feel as though I can honestly say this because I don't have the baggage associated with being a life long guitar player who is a purist snob and can't admit that this little $150 pedal is amazing. I also think that many amp modelers get bashed unfairly by guitar players who have only heard them either through their guitar amp, or on crappy computer speakers or their cheap home stereo. You're not going to TRULY hear how these advanced processors can perform without hearing on a system that has accurate DA converters and speakers. I'm extremely impressed with not only how good the RP series sounds as an amp modeler, but also how good it sounds compared to products 2 or 3 times the price! I was prepared to shell out $400 or so on the Vox or Line 6 units but the online demos just didn't sound as good to me as the Digitech ones. They didn't at the showroom either. Digitech has done a great job designing this thing. Made in the USA to boot! close [-]

My thoughts on the Digitech RP250

Not to slam other products, but since I'm an "older" musician, 45 years gigging, I tend to look for products that are a bit smaller, lighter to carry yet full of features. Hence I wanted to replace my... read more [+] large heavy Boss GT-6. Sound wise, I find the RP 250 to be even better than the Boss. Nitpicks? A few. I wish there was only ONE quick footswitch to kick for the tuner instead of holding both the up and down at the same time. It's a bit tricky. Along those lines, it would be nice to have a bit larger LED's for the tuner. Other than that, so far, I love this little gem and it will be my stand alone unit from here on. close [-]

Ok, I read the other reviews, I sorry I hate this thing. I have several pedal, tons actually and none of them give me as much grief as this one. The only thing I will give it is construction, its built like a tank. I tried RP500 and it impressed me a whole lot more. My opinion if you want a MIDI pedal though is try the IK StompIO. close [-]
