Reviews"The Real Thing?"
by Justin from Yellow Springs, OH
I'm a 28 year old keyboard player/electronic music producer who loves all kinds of musical styles. I'm just now getting into playing guitar and I have a very large CD collection ranging from Ambient t... read more [+]o Zydeco. I'm familiar with how guitar recordings should sound on nice studio monitors. Right now I'm using the RP250 as my direct USB input into my Mac and running a MOTU Ultralite as the firewire output device into ADAM A7 powered monitors with no noticable latency. The RP250 sounds like the real thing. I feel as though I can honestly say this because I don't have the baggage associated with being a life long guitar player who is a purist snob and can't admit that this little $150 pedal is amazing. I also think that many amp modelers get bashed unfairly by guitar players who have only heard them either through their guitar amp, or on crappy computer speakers or their cheap home stereo. You're not going to TRULY hear how these advanced processors can perform without hearing on a system that has accurate DA converters and speakers. I'm extremely impressed with not only how good the RP series sounds as an amp modeler, but also how good it sounds compared to products 2 or 3 times the price! I was prepared to shell out $400 or so on the Vox or Line 6 units but the online demos just didn't sound as good to me as the Digitech ones. They didn't at the showroom either. Digitech has done a great job designing this thing. Made in the USA to boot! close [-]

by KEVIN from Minnesota
Not to slam other products, but since I'm an "older" musician, 45 years gigging, I tend to look for products that are a bit smaller, lighter to carry yet full of features. Hence I wanted to replace my... read more [+] large heavy Boss GT-6. Sound wise, I find the RP 250 to be even better than the Boss. Nitpicks? A few. I wish there was only ONE quick footswitch to kick for the tuner instead of holding both the up and down at the same time. It's a bit tricky. Along those lines, it would be nice to have a bit larger LED's for the tuner. Other than that, so far, I love this little gem and it will be my stand alone unit from here on. close [-]

Ok, I read the other reviews, I sorry I hate this thing. I have several pedal, tons actually and none of them give me as much grief as this one. The only thing I will give it is construction, its built like a tank. I tried RP500 and it impressed me a whole lot more. My opinion if you want a MIDI pedal though is try the IK StompIO. close [-]
