The Ibanez RGA8I have played an Ibanez RG7321 for the last 4 years and it was time to upgrade, but I was weary of the 8-strings considering the considerable difference in neck width, and scale length. To my surprise I was able to acclimate very quickly, as this guitar comes with the wizard II neck (best neck of all time in my book). I had played a Schecter Blackjack 8-string in best buy before purchasing this shred stick, and the Ibanez blows it out of the water. The neck is easier to acquaint to, on a whole it is roughly half the weight, and you still get all the low end you can handle. Down the line a pick-up upgrade will most likely be in store, but out of the box it is definitely playable and ready to destroy. I suggest actually playing an 8-string before purchasing one to make sure that you can deal with the size of it. Too many people assume it will be no different from a 7-string and end up having jaded opinions about the instrument. To conclude, fast neck, decent pickups, amazing sustain, even response, stays in tune like a champ, and looks that kill. The only thing that made this purchase even better was that Sweetwater made sure everything went as smoothly as it possibly could, I highly recommend giving them a shot, you will not be dissappointed. Cheers!
