Love Electro Voice!

This microphone is, in a word: outstanding. It has a presence that cuts through the mix for vocals, yet is overall fairly flat with a knack for capturing the highs of a female jazz vocalist, or the "umph" of a male vocalist. The off-axis rejection is also incredible for live performance! I actually straddled it between my voice and acoustic guitar for a rough pre-production demo to send to a friend who works as a professional producer and engineer. He was blown away with the quality! Can't beat it for $200... seriously. (I found the 510 to be much better with feedback rejection for live performance, so if you like the gain pretty high, I'd definitely go with the 510. If you're looking for even MORE detail on a softer gain, go with the 410.)
