World class stage beast
by Ciprian from Toronto, ON, Canada, September 2008
Music Background: Pro Musician
I've had it for 3 months now and everytime i switch it on i'm sad i don't have enough time to play it. This is my first stage piano - when i bought it i chose the RD-700GX after playing other big monsters: Kawai MP8II, Yamaha CP-300 (waaaay tooo overpriced for what it can do) and Yamaha S90ES (the only real competitor, in my opinion, to the RD-700GX - but i didn't want a synth behind a stage piano, having an Access Virus TI as a synth there is nothing i could want more). Nothing compared to RD-700GX. Its tones, effects and keyboard feel go beyond any competition. It's here, in my room, and it's here to stay for a loooong time. :)
Incredible Instrument!

This is what I have been wanting for a long time. I got mine last week, and I just love this instrument. The sound, feel, fit, finish, and features are all outstanding. I am so happy I sold my RD-700SX and upgraded to this instrument. I loved the SX, but this is even better. It was well worth the additional dollars. The only problem I'm having is turning it off. I want to just keep on playing.
RD-700GX Review
by AKron from Wisconsin, April 2008
Music Background: Hobbyist
I just received the new Roland RD-700GX digital piano after looking, and waiting for many years. Early digital pianos didn't have the best keyboard action, so I waited. The RD-700GX is what I was waiting for. With the addition of Ivory Feel keys, I can't think how a keyboard can be improved upon. The keys have an actual texture to them that's so fine the keys finish looks matte, but it's not. It's streaked, sort of. The key action is what I find on good grand pianos. Much better than any regular upright, or spinet piano I've played. The piano's low notes buzz, and the high notes tinkle like a real piano, all adjustable through the menus. E.Pianos are great, too. The tines will "over load" when playing hard like a Fender Rhodes as it calculates the sympathetic vibrations. It's awesome. It's all adjustable, too, like pickup to tine distance, reed or tine, and much more. Damper pedal is very responsive, and controllable. There's more I haven't tried yet, like the tone wheel organs with basic slider bars, but I will. MIDI out and in worked without a hitch for recording performances with the included Sonar LE software, and the tone generators in the RD-700GX make an expensive, but very nice "sound card" for MIDI playback. I haven't tried the USB drive sound playback of MP3s, and such yet.
