Take Your VST Plug-ins Anywhere - Computer-free!

Muse Research RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max offers up a ton of muscle, putting your favorite VST plug-ins into an easy-to-travel-with, ultra-fast device. Whether you want to take your favorite virtual instruments and effects to the stage, offload plug-in processing from your computer, or just get creative without a lot of powering-up and plugging-in, you'll love the Muse Research RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max. The original RECEPTORs were already groundbreaking in their design, and now Muse Research has upped the ante, packing 50% more memory and twice the processing power into the RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max!

Muse Research RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max at a Glance:
  • Meet the RECEPTOR 2s: More muscle than ever before
  • Play, edit, and store VST plug-ins
  • Incredibly powerful and versatile
  • Mixer-style interface
  • Includes Uniwire for DAW plug-in capability
  • $699 in free sounds, right out of the box
  • "So should I buy this instead of a second computer?"

Meet the RECEPTOR 2s: More muscle than ever before
Both the RECEPTOR 2 Pro and the RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max Max boast a whole new software and hardware engine, giving you 50% more memory, twice the processing power, three times the hard-drive throughput, and 10 times the networking speed! What that means for you is serious muscle and efficient processing, allowing you to run even more virtual instruments and effects in the studio and onstage. The RECEPTOR Pro Max sports a massive 1TB hard drive, 4GB of memory, a blazing-fast 3.0GHz dual-core processor, and an E-SATA external port.

Play, edit and store VST plug-ins
The RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max is incredibly easy to use - just turn it on, dial up a VST plug-in effect or instrument, and start making music. Optimized for live performance, RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max will amaze you with its lightning fast MIDI response.

Incredibly powerful and versatile
In addition to its ease of use, RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max's also extremely versatile. It can run VST software synths, guitar processors, and audio effects, essentially working as three products in one. And, you can use it in standalone mode and connect a keyboard, mouse and monitor for ease of use - whether that's live onstage or at a jam session. From its super quiet operation in the studio to its rugged rack mount enclosure, RECEPTOR is a tool designed to help you get your act together and then take it on the road.

Mixer-style interface
RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max's intuitive, mixer-like architecture combines up to 16 different audio sources, which can be either internal VSTi instruments or external analog/digital inputs. Each source is then routed through its own inline effects matrix that allows three VST plug-ins to be configured in every possible parallel/series arrangement. From there, each source is sent to a dedicated mixer channel, where the sound can be further processed by sending it to two dedicated effects busses, each with another fully configurable VST effects matrix. Need more processing? There is yet another VST effects matrix on the master output, for mastering and sweetening effects.

In all, RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max provides architectural support for as many as 16 simultaneous VSTi instruments and 57 VST effects, while further offering the ability to process external inputs using its front-panel high-Z input, its rear-panel balanced analog inputs, or its S/PDIF digital input.

Includes Uniwire for DAW plug-in capability
UniWire allows you to connect one or more RECEPTORs to a computer-based digital audio workstation using only Ethernet cables - no audio or MIDI cables are needed. By starting UniWire instrument and effects plugins, your digital audio workstation communicates with RECEPTOR as if it were both a virtual instrument and a virtual effect. This means that, unlike "old school" external sound and effects modules, RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max integrates with your digital audio workstation exactly like a locally hosted plug-in - but without using your host computer's precious CPU cycles. And the best part of all this? UniWire is 10 times faster with the RECEPTOR 2s and is included for free!

$699 in free sounds, right out of the box
To get started making music right away, Muse Research gave the RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max six complete "rompler" programs from Plugsound - a $600 value - as well as IK Multimedia's Amplitube software - a $99 value. Plus, you'll be able to explore dozens more virtual instruments, effects, and killer presets, all included for free.

"So should I buy this instead of a second computer?"
You certainly can, and there are definitely benefits to doing just that. If you decided to use a second music computer, you'd also have to purchase an additional MIDI interface, another audio card or breakout box, another copy of your VST hosting application, and a second monitor to actually see it all work. Everything is built-in to RECEPTOR 2 Pro Max. It's designed to work equally well whether it's used standalone with only its front panel; standalone but connected to its own keyboard, mouse and monitor; or networked with an existing computer for remote control. RECEPTOR actually enhances an existing computer; it doesn't replace it. It is, in fact, an ideal companion for a computer-based DAW, especially if that DAW doesn't run Windows VSTs or is running low on CPU cycles.

Sweetwater Advice

Mike Hammond
If you're a keyboard player, guitar player, vocalist, drummer and/or have a studio or play out live, check out the Receptor! Complete control over splits, layers, velocity switching and audio I/O routing are high on my list of needs. I want the power to host my collection of virtual instruments and effects without worries of overloading my computer. The ability to connect my keyboard controller, my drum control pads, my guitar and even route a vocal channel all into the same instrument/fx module would be nice. Receptor delivers ALL OF THIS and more in a 2-space rack module!

Our Customers Say...

My Sales Engineer is the best. If I need it tomorrow, I have it tomorrow. He makes sure everything is in order and that I'm set up right. I've spent a lot of money at other places, too, but I don't remember them calling me to make sure everything's okay.
