Omnidirectional Mics with Extended Frequency Response

Capture "true" sound at Sweetwater! The QTC50 is the microphone for those who demand the very best. It is ideal for digital recording with sample rates up to 192kHz, and even higher where every nuance of sound must be captured. The QTC series (Quiet Time Coherent) is designed for recording quieter sources such as vocals, strings and distant miked orchestras or choirs. Earthworks' reputation for realism is based on these distinctive omnis. Their degree of clarity is unparalleled. Time Coherent Response means these models do not smear the time domain as most microphones do. Earthworks microphones have exceptional impulse response and diaphragm settling time. QTC microphones handle sound levels up to 142dB with no proximity effect or handling noise.

The QTC50 microphone provides a true and accurate representation of sonic events as they happen in the air. This means you get the REAL sound, the sound that's really there. Naturally, the QTC50 mics are whisper quiet, enabling you to mic even the most subtle vocal or choir passage with no noise! You get the super-flat frequency response of the TC Series combined with a noise floor that's under this world (get it)! If what you crave is tonal purity and low noise, the QTC50 is THE mic of choice!

Earthworks QTC50 Small-diaphragm Omni Mic Features:
  • Quiet TC
  • 3Hz to 50kHz
  • Omni directional
  • Max SPL is 142dB
  • Requires +48V phantom power
Earthworks QTC50 is ideal for critical recording applications!

EW QTC50

Use a matched pair of QTC50s for extreme L/R for symphony orchestra. First mics that do not sound "broken" compared to the results of a Neumann M 190 stereo mic placed 7-10 ft above the conductor, directly behind in the "God position". (A Cloud powered ribbon mic is used for soloists.)

The 'depth' of the stereo image has a unique result that when played back presents an uncanny presentation that has more detail then the live sound in the venue. The musicians often remark that they hear many things missed during rehearsals and performances as compared to earlier recordings without the QTC50s.

The Earthworks mics will do a great job capturing the sound, dynamics and stereo image by themselves but i like to play while making the recordings......
Music background: Enjoy listening to classical and R+R
