Cecil, Mesquite, TX Reviewsbased on 2 reviewsWonderful Library, but definetely specialized
by Nik from Anchorage, AK
I originally purchased this particular Library because I had heard many of the violin examples and was completely blown away, and since the violin is a main composing element for me, I felt that the i... read more [+]nvestment was warranted.January 31, 2013 Music Background: Professional Musician Firstly, there have been a lot of reviews about EastWest stuff stating that the libraries were glitchy, and that customer support was nonexistent, and while I understand that everybody's events are different, my experience with customer support was very quick, (through email non-the-less) and the software has been very solid in compatibility (Windows 7 64bit/Sonar 8.5) That being said, here is what I thought about the actual library. The violin, in my very honest opinion, was well worth the price. Just the violin. It is unimaginable what kind of performance you can achieve with it. Now, originally, I didn't think that I would get much use out of the many instruments, such as accordions and the guitars, but in truth, these samples were incredibly inspiring and very breathable into many types of music. I was especially impressed with the trombone, and the Cimbalom. Both fantastic instruments. With all of the praise, you must also understand that in order to achieve a great, realistic performance, it does take some time to learn the keyswitching system, which is how the realism can be achieved through the samples, but in about a weeks worth of time, for me at least, it was very second nature. This library is one of the most unique I have ever seen, and the samples are second to none. Highly recomended :) close [-] Some good sounds but some terrible loops
by Tracey Larvenz from San Diego, CA
I've been a fan of East West for a while. I'm a professional composer and I spend a great deal of time working with samples. I've found this library to be lacking the quality of other East West titl... read more [+]es. While there are many great sounding samples, there are a bunch that are hamstrung by the quality of their loops. None of the accordions have a usable upper register if played as a sustained solo instrument. They all have a very audible loop point which harken back to the early days of sampling when memory was a huge issue and loop points had to be short. Also, the flamenco guitars chords suffer from a lack of multi-samples at different volumes and generally aren't recorded very well. If you've ever sat in front of a flamenco guitarist you'll notice that the guitarists are very dynamic and that no two strums sound exactly the same. There are a variety of key selectable rhythm and there are two different samples per strum. Playing softer will only lessen the volume of the strum but not change the tonal quality of the sound. This is a really disappointing library from a company that has put out a great many sample libraries that have been top notch. The instrument selection was appropriate but the inattention to detail makes this a purchase I wish I could return. close [-]
