These seriously brought tears to my eyes

Yes, these are expensive, but you truly get what you pay for.

Being an audiophile, and working in the recording industry, my ears are extremely picky, and I am hard to please when it comes to speakers and headphones. These things, they BLOW MY MIND. They do not effect the music at all, they let you hear beyond notes to THE EMOTION of the what you are listening to. Listening to Ingrid Michaelson's "Turn to Stone" brought tears to my eyes, hearing every intake of breath, the synth'ed strings in the background of the breakdown, it is the most amazing things. The same feeling after listening to Mumford and Son's "Little Lion Man", Nelly's "Just a Dream", Girlyman's "The Shape I Found You In", Michael Buble's "Fever", everything you listen to through these cans just sings. You honestly can not spend $400 better than this.

And did I mention the lime one's look even cooler in person?! These babies turn heads, AND bring tears. Thanks for the legacy Quincy.

The Best

These headphones are amazing. Once my sales engineer(Robby ext1368) ask me to trust him on this. I purchased them, and this has been one of my best purchases in a while. I use the Q701 on all my music needs, mainly with my Saffire Pro 24 DSP(VRM), for Mixing & Mastering on the go.

Oh yeah!

for these cans, you will need headphone amps to bush these. Though you still can hear it without it but just not enough. I use a presonus HP4 on these at the moment. I turn the volume knob on the hp4 way up but turn my computer volume to 1/2. Now, everything is out....

I give 5 star for sound,comfort, lightweight, looks, design which is the main thing.
My disappointment is that with this price tag, they should of provide a carrying case but I guess these supposedly stayed in the studio LOL!

AKG Q701 Headphones

I gave them 4.5 stars, because I've only had them for a few days. So far they are incredible. They require a little more omph than my other phones, I have to add about 25% more volume to equal the volume of my other phones, but that is no problem and I would guess a function fo their design.

I mixed a new tune I was working on and the results so far are very encouraging.

They are BIG headphones but very light and I find them comfortable and very breathable, but they look a little funny just because of their size. But the overall design is very cool and I like the plug-in cord as I feel it will eliminate the evenual broken wire where the cord meets the phones. All phones should be designed like this with a removeable chord. These do not color the sound at all but give a very true response of recordings, which is of course what you want in the studio.

Perfect for your studio

these headphones are a must have for anyone doing critical studio work. they are comfortable to wear, and reproduce whatever it is you are working on, without adding color. trust me, i have tried many other headsets, and these are the ones i use all the time. 2 things that prevent me from giving them a 5..... first is, i wish the connecting cable was coiled. i constantly find it in the way, hooking itself onto things. secondly, for the price, these headphones should have a carrying case.
