I love these. my girl got em for me cause i do mix downs in the apt. One of the tweeters went out on my mackie mr8 just after the warranty expired. The Q701s enable me to hear all the floor noise in the mix so i can eliminate it. These frequencies are not audible on the mr8s.

Great Cans, not broken in yet though..

So far so good. I love the build quality of these phones. I did not break it in all the way yet, I got about 90 hours on them. they say 300 is the sweet spot.. but even so, I can really start hearing a better sound then when I first got them. Already I have had people in the studio ask which ones are they, they are bad-ass, love em etc... so they are catching people's eyes as well. I would recommend them to anyone serious in doing reference production work.

Too thin in the bass but accurate everywhere else

I first bought these after hearing raves about how accurate they were. I have to say, they aren't harsh in the upper registers like their predecessors. They really didn't have to go through the extensive burn-in period either. The biggest disappointment I have with these headphones is their inefficiency in the low end. They are so weak starting at about 200 hz and below that you're certainly not gonna be able to trust them with a mix down. I usually like to throw on some headphones and listen to the low-end. These guys won't help you there.
