That Legendary Gretsch Look and Sound - with a New Snarl!
Gretsch has taken its classic Duo Jet and Jet Firebird designs and updated them for today's guitar player. So go ahead and strike your best rockin' pose, turn your amp up to 11 and get ready to bring down the house with your sound. Of course, Gretsch guitars have always appealed to a certain kind of player. And this one is definitely NOT your "one-size-fits-all" solidbody electric. It has the vintage looks of the best Gretsch solidbodies, but with a brand new snarl - a more aggressive attitude thanks to the voicing of the two TV Jones PowerTron pickups onboard. Other features include those distinctive neo-classical "thumbnail" inlays on the solid ebony fingerboard and yes, an authentic Bigsby vibrato tailpiece that says you're definitely not about to play well with others. Naturally, your new Power Jet Firebird comes with an arched, laminated maple top (in red, of course) over a specially-chambered, semi-solid mahogany body. Guaranteed to get you noticed (in a good way, of course)!

Gretsch Power Jet Firebird Features at a Glance:
  • Solidbody single-cutaway design with bound, arched maple top over mahogany body
  • Two specially-voiced TV Jones PowerTron pickups
  • One-piece mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard and "thumbnail" inlays
  • Adjusto-Matic bridge for precise intonation plus Bigsby vibrato tailpiece
  • Includes deluxe plush-lined hardshell case

Solidbody single-cutaway design with bound, arched maple top over mahogany body
At first glance, you might think this is a "me-too" single-cutaway, solidbody electric. But you'd be wrong, because nothing about the Gretsch Power Jet Firebird is "me-too." Oh, you might say that other guitars come with an arched, laminated maple top with multi-ply body bindings over a chambered mahogany body and of course you'd be right. But that's where the similarities end, because the minute you pick up this guitar, you'll know it's either the perfect fit for you or not what you're looking for. That's always been the case with Gretsch guitars (and, may we add, hopefully always will be), because these instruments are definitely marching to their own drummer, which is a good thing. Up on stage or in the studio, the Power Jet Firebird, with its red gloss finish will turn heads even before you plug it in.

Two specially-voiced TV Jones PowerTron pickups
The original Gretsch FilterTron pickups had a distinctive voice, with plenty of low end response, a complex midrange blend and a velvety smooth treble. The specially-voiced TV Jones PowerTron pickups take that sound by the neck and squeeze it to within an inch of its life until it produces a brand new snarl that only a few overwound FilterTrons even came close to. It's a modern take on a classic sound and it's perfect for everything from huge power chords to screaming lead lines and anything in between. Yet despite its angry overdrive, it's amazingly well-behaved when you turn down the volume control, where it delivers a tight, punchy, well-balanced tone from either (or both) pickups.
One-piece mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard and "thumbnail" inlays
The Gretsch Power Jet Firebird comes with a wonderfully balanced, fully bound, one-piece mahogany neck that's not too fat and not too thin. It's got a custom profile that's suitable for almost any style of music. What's more, the solid ebony fingerboard lets you play with a fluidity you may not have even known you had (ebony necks will do that). Of course, since it's a Gretsch, it comes with those neo-classical "thumbnail" position inlays.

Adjusto-Matic bridge for precise intonation plus Bigsby vibrato tailpiece
While it's true that no guitar is truly "perfectly in-tune" all the way up and down the neck, the Power Jet's Adjusto-Matic bridge allows you to use any string gauge you choose and still achieve precise intonation at any fret, on any string. But the thing that sets this guitar apart from almost any other is the addition of a vintage Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. It's not for everyone, but the Bigsby has a very distinctive feel and a flat arm that lets you hook a finger around it to bend notes up or down or to give it a little "waggle" for some nicely textured chords.

Includes deluxe plush-lined hardshell case
Back in the 1950s and '60s, few guitars came standard with a case. You had to pay extra. So we're happy to tell you that the Gretsch Power Jet Firebird comes standard with a deluxe, plush-lined hardshell case to protect your investment for many years to come.
